New Car by ELIO MOTORS coming soon.

Not sure if this is the appropriate forum to post this, but thought it was interesting and cool and that you guys could appreciate it.

Don't see a power to weight ratio, but it looks like it'd be a blast to drive.

85 MPG
107 MPH
Manual or auto transmission.
$6,800.00
Made in the USA!

What do you think?

Color SUCKS and the ad too

But I like it. If it was performance oriented, this would be fun at autox

i'd buy it for $6800 BUT i can't carry passengers. it's basically just a bike with a roof.

It will have about 80hp 3 cylinder and weigh about 1800lbs.

You can carry a passenger. It is a two seater.

There will be about 10 colors to choose from.

I plan to get one.

those headlights look weak, like unable to light up a dark road

the video is cheesy, and so is the car...

DNAPoPo 01-10-2013 07:48 PM

Looks like a great little people mover!

ZetaVI 01-10-2013 08:03 PM

The color names make me chuckle. The headlights looks like two mini flashlights from Costco. I can just imagine myself driving at nighttime and seeing that thing mistakenly as a gigantic frog. Oddly enough, it isn't very ugly. I've seen worse.

I LOVE the idea of a reverse trike but the market they are selling this to just won't buy it. First it is licensed as a motorcycle so you will need a motorcycle license. The Can-am got around this by offering the license test at the dealership but that is a toy and people who are buying a toy are willing to do a little extra work.

In many states both driver and passenger will be required to wear a helmet, I didn't see that helmet on any of those people who were just popping into the grocery. Yes it has a back seat but not enough for the average American's 2.3 children, nor is it versatile enough for even the rarest occasion, say you take your girlfriend out and she wears a dress/skirt, she won't get in the back of this. Plus, can you imagine installing a baby seat, or the painful/awkward position you'd put yourself in to get groceries in and out?

Some people may buy this as a second or third car, but it won't be the revolution they seem to want it to be. I say they make a sporty one to buy as a toy, then when people adjust their lifestyle to the pros/cons and can see themselves in one, come out with a more 'liveable' version.

Regardless of who they sell it to, that is a great price!

I just don't understand why they keep making 3 wheel cars...? If it hasn't worked before why will it work now?

Longhorn248 01-10-2013 10:23 PM

I would buy this. Doubt it will actually come out though.

caliboy15 01-10-2013 10:26 PM

I want one..

Interesting... would be perfect for daily commute. It just sucks it only sits one person. Would be perfect if it seats 2.

Chauntalei 01-10-2013 10:51 PM

Sounds to me like they're just doing a kit car body for a Smart engine. If you look at the Smart Pure Coupe, it's a 1L, inline 3, 70hp engine. Coincidence?

It does, passenger sits behind the driver.
