If you are so decided on a small turbo setup why not talk with a vendor and get a turbo swapped out. Most people aren't in your same camp and don't need what your after. The threshold for most is just fine. I personally like having a separation in cruise and power. If I need more I downshift turbo is then in band and go. What kind of max HP are you looking for anyway?

I think I may have found your small turbo setup, I don't have many details yet and will leave that to the vendor but there is something on the way for you/us.

isnt this solution as simple as finding the right small turbine?

If i truely wanted more torque, instead spending 7k on a turbo set up, i would swap out the engine for a more proven platform a turbo 2.5 EJ. Dont get me wrong, i think the fa20 has a lot of potential, but before turbo or SC, We should spend the money upgrading the Radiator and a oil cooler

An EJ wont bolt up to an 86's bell-housing. It will take more money than 7k to get a functional EJ swap in an 86. Swapping in an engine with different external dimensions and mounting points isn't exactly a better solution to upgrading cooling issues. The best bang for buck (pragmatically speaking) right now is the Vortech because of its less invasive approach. Centrifugal SC set ups are truly a "lazy man's" turbo approach because you avoid the inherent hassle of piping/cooling you get with turboing an N/A car. The main drawback is you get less HP per pound due to the parasitic factor. I'm really hoping they can figure out a pump gas set up that provides 300whp whie staying shy of 10 lbs but I'm not holding my breath.
