The gold piece IS a for sure. However, they will not come pre-applied, so you can place them wherever you'd like. This is one of the reasons we ask our customers for feedback.

They are black zinc coated, which is substantially better for longevity than painting (like the competition). For a comparison, refer to the photos on the first page of the clear zinc'd hardware.

Remember, these gas struts are made by an OEM manufacturer, and the coating is made to last for YEARS without being too thick to interfere with fitment at the ball cup. On the competition's kit you are expected to grease these joints yourself, and I've found that the paint on these parts is so thick that it make putting the pin in to lock in the ball stud impossible without bending it.

So they're black, I promise!
