Exactly, I remember when the solstice came out and it was supposed to be light and fun to drive; pretty sure it tipped the scales at 3,200lbs or so and had the most boring/passionless 4cyl in the world. The corvette, while impressive and good looking, still rolls around on leaf springs, it's 2013, I'm just not down with that at all.

Don't get me wrong, I had my Camaro/Corvette days. It was in mid 1990s. They were cheaper alternatives to get fast back in the day. Supra turbo was way more expensive, 300zx turbo and 3000gt vr4 were expensive and heavy. DSM was small inside and had a crappy build quality. Back in the days, I was willing to enjoy the squeak and rattles and crappy interior because I enjoyed the sensation of the pushrod torque overpowering the chassis.

Fast forward to this year, my taste has changed, maybe I am getting old, but I am enjoying a balanced chassis more than overpowering engine now. Two weeks ago I actually test drove a basic C6 Corvette manual back to back to FR-S. I actually enjoyed the FR-S more. For my personal taste, the suspension fights with the transmission to put the power down. Chassis feels flexing: I feel like I am fighting with the car (but then it was the way back in mid 1990s and I enjoyed it then but not now). With FR-S, it feels like I have a dance partner who's asking "so, how you wanna do it?" If I want to go fast and crazy, I still have my Evo. If people ask me how I'd describe driving a modified Evo, I'd just point to my Jack Russell Terrier: he just thinks where he wants to go for a split second and the next split second he is there.

The car is different.. and well has some inspiring styling.. some, however, chevy does lack one thing here.. the boxer motor which is what gives our car the advantage in cornering. The main focus of this car is the lower center of gravity. Maybe im dating my car here but I truly believe the formula that Toyota came up with when they designed the car was to give it the edge against most cars. Heck im willing to put money down that on highly technical circuits that even muscle cars would fall victim to the GT-86's handling prowess. Looking at Chevy's design I noticed the high pitch roof and higher stance.. its also not as wide. So it's not going to handle like the GT-86 at all. Chevy is not known for cars that handle.. they put stock in power mostly (and going green). Sadly I dont even think of the Corvette when I think of Chevy, which is a really good sports car for the money. Im just not that impressed with its styling and it looks.. well bland.. doesnt evoke anything in me for some reason.. anybody else feel this way besided me?

It's exactly what makes the FR-S so great, everything was designed from the ground up for ONE car.

Well, except for suspension parts. Doesn't the suspension share parts with the WRX? Same with some of the brake parts? And isn't the motor being used in other Subarus now? And the air filter is the same as a Scion TC? I seem to remember a little parts bin diving going on with this car too. Still love my car though!

More like 2800-2900. Not much if any more than the S2000.

Never drove one, but with factory upgrades you could get ~293hp. Not bad!

You should visit the discussion in the "other vehicles" forum. Leaf springs are no disadvantage for a production sports car.

That thing looks more like a tc than an FR-S. the only comparison would be if it was RWD. Mine is WAY sexier than I see that thig ever becoming.

Only 9% of the parts on the FR-S/BRZ were platform-shared (at the time of production). The other 91% were developed for this car.

I feel like it is fairly boring looking and thats the concept. Which makes me think the actual production car unless extremely similar to the concept will look even more boring.

It kinda screams budget/economy but maybe it's one of those things you have to see in person.

I liked the pictures of the FR-S but from some angles it looked very average. When I saw it in person, I fell in love.
