Only an emoticon???C'mon man, you have to give us more than that! I'm rooting for you on this effort. I really hope some decent gains can be made NA. As much as going FI is the sure ticket to power. Some more NA ponies and 8500 rpm might be enough to keep my engine "pure." |

Wish the FA20.com tune had that nice bump in the power band around 4500rpm like John's tune. Wonder if this comes down to valve timing.

As someone who has been looking at dyno plots from every type of dyno on every type of car for quite a while, these results are completely inconclusive. They are all within the margin of error. I've seen a car lose 5% power on the same dyno same say with a 30 minute cool down. These numbers are all well within the margin from each other!
How are you guys drawing ANY rationale conclusions?? -Acree

I don't have a dyno of both but I have both tunes. I feel theat fa20 works better on my car by a substantial margin, your results may vary and John does an amazing job on FI tunes but fa20 has provided me much better support and sends me updated maps all the time when I make changes which is often. I have nothing against John at all he does incredible work and I hope to have him help me get a litchfield supercharger. My car just seems smoother on the fa20, John may beat it on the dyno I don't know they are both great tuners and as I've said before John is a master of the manual trans cars but I think fa20 does better on the autos. Hopes this helps a little you can't go wrong either way.

Yes, that's my point. I didn't like the leaning out from fa20. Thank you.

Judging by the first graph on page 1 the FA20 looks very close to stock until ~6000rpm. However, most of my shifting occurs before 6000rpm so my question is do you feel any difference in your car with the FA20 tune below 6000rpm?

try testing it on a non inertia based dyno such as a mustang like myself or a dynapack like perrin youll see much wider variances in the lower rpms. dynojet load varies so much that i see almost a half point in afr from plots on my loaded dyno the same is seen if you log on the dynojet and log on the street with similar load applications. im sure that you arent wot shifting at 5k rpm all day either and you cant do testing like that on a dynojet that has not steady state testing ability. its easier to look at a chart from stock to tuned on the same car over a extended period of time cause we have all learned that back to back dyno testing no matter what with this ecu takes multiple runs to each tune to adjust and running on a inertia roller will take longer to get repeatable results. and i saw this to everyone of my customers. you can take a dyno chart as a reference not biblical until you drive your own car before and after a tune.

its understandable i know its a long thread but a statement like that makes anyone that hasnt followed the thread read and assume it at face value and they never bother to read the rest of the thread themselves. ive read through 90+ page threads before just to make sure i know exactly whats going on it took a few days but i did it cause i like to make sure when i comment im accurate in my opinion based on previous comments. which forums are all based on personal opinion but to form one you should have all the data then make your own judgement. i dont consider anyones post as law just their own opinion but sometimes you know which is which lol

It's a catch 22, the inertial dynos show a more accurate representation of wheel power, whereas the non inertial are more consistent for tuning.
I will say that my tuning was done on a dynojet and the AFR results were very consistent from run to run. |
