My definition of screwed over relates to the title, basically i ordered my argento FR-S and the sales person said it'll be in by the end of the week. (a week ago) He then said he cannot secure the vin number for the vehicle, and cannot obtain the vehicle. He then assures to me that he can get the car by the 17th for sure. I am iffy on this because it seems that he is going to push the date later and later. I'd much rather prefer being told that i would have to wait a month or so instead of having an imaginary due date for the car. ALSO he told me that he had another car with the bespoke radio, but it had 100 miles; he also said the specific car i ordered ( Stock argento with five axis spoiler) will have around the same mileage on it. Is having that many miles normal? Thank you in advance guys!
I would call around to all the toyotas in the area. I wouldn't buy one with 100 miles on it, but thats just me. I assume that everyone test drives these really hard and I'm a big fan of breaking in the vehicle. Then again, I live in SoCal now and they have an endless supply over here.

If you're in Stockton, CA, you need to do some more shopping around. All of the dealers are getting FR-S' relatively consistently, and there are a lot of dealers around the Bay Area/Sacramento. It's just a matter of calling around and finding a dealer that has the car your looking for, and hopefully hasn't optioned it out yet. I called and visited a couple dealerships in the Bay Area prior to committing to buying a car so that I could test drive one and see it in person. Then the day I sold my old car, I called a few dealerships to see what they had, and at what prices and mileage. Berkeley Toyota had just gotten an Asphalt 6-speed in a few days prior, only options were trunk mat and hood/fender clear bra, and it had 9 miles on it when I went to buy it. You should be able to find an Argento one pretty quick. Add the 5-Axis spoiler after buying the car. You'll save money and time that way.

Find another dealership. I would be worried about the fact that he said there will be around 100 miles on it. The fact that he's lying to you about when the car will come in...he's a salesman. You should expect this. He's going to say whatever he can to stop you from calling other dealerships, so you buy the car from him. I wouldn't mind the waiting, but again, the fact that he said to expect the car with around 100 miles on it, I don't like that at all. He's either saying that so he can give out some test drives, or so him and some of the other employees can take it out for a private test drive.

Just look elsewhere - the dealers in my hometown were telling me 4-6 months before I could ever see one - made a few calls to dealers in about a 300 mi radius of me - and ended up flying out to OK to pick mine up a couple weeks later.

The guy I'm going with promised I could get it with the plastic still on (but it was illegal for me to leave the lot with the plastic).

We'll see if he holds up his end of the bargain soon enough

Anything more than 10 miles has been driven by someone else, up to you whether or not you trust your salesman, I wouldn't (big hint there, he's a salesman, he'll say anything).

Official line is an 8 week wait last I checked, anything more than 2 months either the dealer is effing with you or they have a ridiculous waiting list. You can get what you want but it's an effing pain, especially in California; land of people who like to throw away money.

Hello everybody! Woah, i haven't checked this post in a day and so many of you guys left a comment! Thank you guys so much! And i do realize i come off as a spoiled brat, recon people waited for more than a month, or had to go to extremes to get their vehicles. I was just wondering because this is my first experience dealing with a dealership and seeing 100 miles seemed odd. The thought of the car being taken out for a joy ride was definitely on my mind. Thought i was thinking crazily because he said it was normal and fine! Lastly, traveling is not a good plan.. Maybe 150 miles tops? I would thank you all individually, but i have no thanks and do not know how to do so.. But thank you all very much!

Yeah, i did look online at every place around me, but had no luck! They all were in A/T! There was one in Vacaville though.. In Ultramarine; i'm going to check it out in person because i'm not sure if the color looks good in person or not! And yeah, i was just planning on getting a carbon fiber trunk spoiler later. Thank you for the reply though!
