Hello guys, i'm new to this forum (Glad that i found it) and i was wondering if any of you guys were screwed over by your dealership? Whether if it was a Scion dealer, or a Toyota dealership. My definition of screwed over relates to the title, basically i ordered my argento FR-S and the sales person said it'll be in by the end of the week. (a week ago) He then said he cannot secure the vin number for the vehicle, and cannot obtain the vehicle. He then assures to me that he can get the car by the 17th for sure. I am iffy on this because it seems that he is going to push the date later and later. I'd much rather prefer being told that i would have to wait a month or so instead of having an imaginary due date for the car. ALSO he told me that he had another car with the bespoke radio, but it had 100 miles; he also said the specific car i ordered ( Stock argento with five axis spoiler) will have around the same mileage on it. Is having that many miles normal? Thank you in advance guys!

The high mileage could be from a dealership swap (One dealership has a buyer that wants a specific color etc. so the dealership finds other dealerships in the area to trade cars with to get the model the buyer wants). I would definitely be patient and continue to call different dealerships to find the color you want without the high mileage.

Um.. Sounds like your not happy with your dealer. Go to the next one. I was told at 2 dealerships that there were 6 months - 1 year wait for an FR-S. I said bullshit. Then found out a buddy of mine from 10+ years ago works at Toyota. Start talking to him, and I'm told Scion dealerships are getting about 2-3 FRS' a month. He said there were a couple coming in soon and he would let me know. A week later he said it's here and I need to come now. So I came at that very moment, and picked her up. And the milage thing, it depends if they have to get it from another dealer or not. Tell them no, you don't want that any miles on it. Kinda sounds like their pulling your leg a little and trying to sell you one with a little bit more higher miles because the next person probably wouldnt be happy about it. I say you try a different dealer.

Find a good dealership. I found my Whiteout in another state (NC) and had the full Five Axis kit w/wheels & tire installed before delivery. The dealership even noted about keeping anyone from driving the FR-S. My car had 19mi at delivery.

Thank you guys for responding! Yeah i am getting slightly frustrated about this dealership.. And I was iffy on the miles because I'm not sure if those miles were beat into the car. I was planning on babying the car until I hit the 5k miles mark, but i don't want a car that was beaten from drive to drive!

Mine took a long time to get(ordered in the beginning of September got it at the end of November) it only had 11 miles on it, they didn't drill my bumper, turned off my DRLs..... they treated me right. If I were you I would look around at other dealers.

Mine took exactly 6 weeks from the day I ordered it. I picked it up in the pouring rain, with 5 miles on it and damn near no gas in. I had told my salesman I wanted to be the one to gas it up, and he followed me to the station and ran his cc.

about the miles: i was told that when they do the swap, they usually have an older person (50-60) who does only that, so the car will be driven gently. supposedly.
also, i got lucky. my wait time was aything up to a month, and they managed to find the car in about 3 days. now i'm just waiting on next tuesday to go pick it up. |

Plenty of them in the Seattle area, even more BRZ's actually. Just go on Seattle Craigslist and type in FRS or BRZ, you'll see them.

My car was a dealer swap. 4 miles on it when I bought it, 97 when I actually got my hands on it. The saleman himself drove the car, and I know it was treated well. Still, like Lonewolf said, they're a lot more common than they were a few months ago. Just go to a different dealer. Argento is especially common it seems.

If you want to order one that you know nobody has taken joyriding, the window you are going to get is 90-120 days because of build/ship time. Thats what i did anyways and i got mine on the 120th day with 10 miles on it (service inspection drive)
If youre not as picky as me you should be able to find one pretty easy, just call around. 100 miles seems like it might have been joy ridden a little. |
