Thank goodness for the forums! My passenger window wouldn't roll up all the way this morning...not the best way to spend a winter day in Chicago, haha.

Hopefully there's some fix that Subaru can bring us in for so we don't have to deal with it so regularly.

Everytime I read about people complaining about these damn window switches on here it makes me want to scream. I agree they suck and it's a stupid system but the first time it happened to me I leaned over to the glove box and pulled out a magical book called the OWNERS MANUAL, maybe it was a special option on my FRS but here's what it says!
First, got to the back and look in the index, POWER WINDOWS page 52, then turn to that page.
Done!

Literacy rate in US/Canada is 99%. I guess for those that complain about window switches fall into that 1% ?

I have reset my passenger side window with both the driver side and passenger side switches according to the manual. Sometimes my passenger side will auto down or auto up on the first click, sometimes it takes two or three hits or I just end up holding it down manually. This occurs from both the driver side and the passenger side switch. I have owned many cars with auto up/down and am fully familiar with retraining them via holding down till it clicks, or as the manual says, two down then on the third hold till it clicks, either way it sometimes works, sometimes doesnt. I think there is a legitimate issue with the auto up/down system on my cars passenger side (driver side works flawlessly) and perhaps other FR-S/BRZ's. I will be taking it in as soon as there is a reliable "cricket" fix, and back right fuel rattle fix for my 1000 mile old car.

I haven't read the entire thread but I thought I'd add something. The reason this is happening is that the window is freezing to the weather stripping and seal on the door. The window controller sees that the windows hasn't moved after the circuit has been closed, and disables the auto up & down. Shut the car off and turn back on and the windows should operate fine, only without the small movement when the door opens and shuts. In the winter I find it best to just leave is unprogrammed, as it's going to freeze up every other morning anyways.

That may certainly be so on someone else's car, but mine does it in a heated garage after an overnight stay. I have no tint, and the rubber seals are clean and smooth. I do note that the seals are very firmly pressed to the window, and when they roll all the way up the seals bunch up at the arch of the window. That is under normal 70 degree temperatures.

Sounds like you may have a defective window seal.

Get used to reprogramming it on a daily basis. Or at least checking if it needs it. You need to dedicate your life to this, or else you will miss it when it happens one time and this is the result.

Everyone needs a purpose, after all.

I am so happy I will never see a huge dump of snow inside my FR-S, that is unless it snows in my garage.

When I bought this car I knew those auto windows were going to be an issue when the temps get below freezing. I wish you could just disable it manually until the weather warms up again.

You can. Very clever person on this board has the fix. I just had not got around to it.
