I'm in canada and took delivery on december 22nd, car had michelin summers on it. I had to drive straight to a tire shop to put winters on.
Still better than all-season garbage though.

I had those on my 2009 Corolla XRS. They aren't the worst tire, but, they are pretty crappy. I didn't know how crappy they were until I got the Bridgestone Potenza RE970 to replace them. The only advantage of the Turanza EL400 is that you might get a little longer before throwing winter tires on. The shocking thing is that they are actually quite expensive. The above Potenzas were cheaper and better.

Take a look at how well the Turanza 400-02 stacks up against other "Standard Touring All Season" tires:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...wws=N&showcm=N The crappiest tire in one of the lowest performance categories! I test drove a '13 Mazda3 Grand Touring a couple of weeks ago, it was on these tires. The handling feel of the car was so poor that we decided to keep and fix up the wife's old '05 Mazda3 instead. I'm sure a lot of the craptastic handling was down to those tires. WTF, Mazda, Scion! Last edited by ZDan; 01-14-2013 at 04:19 PM. |

There is a performance benefit to be gained by tweaking the pressures to affect the handling to your liking and a reduction in rolling resistance benefit (gas savings) to overinflating the tire. Recommended pressures are a good starting point for 97% of motorists. (you'd likely lower them if going to a track because you'll be dumping a lot of heat into them) Edit: relevant to the thread, dealers have no idea what tires they are coming in with, I've seen a few with Bridgestones in sunny California, mine came with Michelins last week. |

Mine came with Bridgestones - I really want to upgrade my tires but at the same time it feels like such a waste of money getting rid of a perfectly functional set of tires.

strat61caster - thanks for the info, I'll probably contact Bridgestone as well and see what they recommend. |

I dealt with Kipling tire, their prices are usually pretty competitive. Ended up with Hankook W409 I-Pike, I have mixed feelings about the tire, pretty terrible in the dry/wet but did perform well in the snow. Tires23 are also pretty good, I'm picking up some rims/tires from them for the spring and they were pretty well priced as well.

My FRS was delivered last week (WA state) and it has the Turanza tires... they were inflated to 30 psi. I up'd them to 35 psi to see how they felt and it was too much.... way too 'stiff' for our current 25-35 degree weather. I have them down to 32 psi and that feels about right.

I would actually like to have all season tires. I don't mind swapping with someone my summer tire with an all season, provided that the condition of the tire is new. cause mine is.

Your tires are worth a pretty penny in like new condition. Sell them and buy a set of better all seasons than the factory all season garbage.
