Sounds like warranty work. I get into 6th...it's just notchy and grinds on occasion.

oh no it'll go fine but like yours its notchy at times, i haven't had it grind yet though but I'll see what they say when I take it in for my first service. 2-3 has been kinda weird too but it goes away after I've driven it for a lil bit.

Mine comes and goes based on temp usually. I'll try the pento first and see if less affected by temp.

Same Issue here. Even with the car warmed up, if im getting on the freeway or driving "briskly" on surface streets, then it is pretty harsh(even grinding sometimes) going 4th-5th. Also have the same issue when going from 6th-5th. If i'm doing it to slow down, then its not "quite" as bad, but if i shift 6th-5th to accelerate suddenly, then it is just has bad as the 4th-5th... I rev-match well, car is warmed and only 3K on the car. 5th has always been a little rough since i purchased the car, but it is certainly getting much worse.

Drove the car twice today: once to the superbowl party and once back to my house. On both trips I got a grind into 5th gear; once each trip.

My gears are pretty much good all around but just quicker downshifts from 6th to 5th at mid to high rpm are giving me a small crunch with clutch fully depressed!!

Is this normal?? my car has always done it

Downshifting from 6th to 4th will decrease synchro longevity on 4th gear, as the shaft speed difference will be greater than if you were shifting 6th-5th-4th.

How much will it decrease longevity? I have no clue.

Has anyone that posted in this thread or the others related to this issue tried the Pentosin fluid?
Did it eliminate the issue?
Thanks.
