Leaving out the hatch was a compromise of light weight and rigidity vs. convenience. No doubt the decision was made carefully.

Bah. Sad news indeed.

I guess this means RE11S instead of Hoosier for me.

Well that's pretty disappointing A hatch would have been very convenient, and would at least help the downsides of a 2 door

It's called a Tire Tail and uses a Da'Lan hitch. It seems like its only for specific cars though. Hopefully they'll realize that the FR-S/BRZ trunk is a total bust and make one for this car.

If the car doesn't have a huge aperture when the rear seats are folded down, I'm afraid the car might be too impractical.

Practical = 4 tires in the rear seat/trunk area.

Light weight and rigidity in place of a hatchback: For me, that's a meaningful trade-off.

Weight and rigidity are performance issues.

A hatchback is a convenience issue.

(No disrespect to you Hatchbackers, of course. :happy0180: )

LOL at the tire hitch, but it looks like it will be a good investment for this car unfortunately. Couldn't be more disappointed that this car looks like its gonna be everything I ever wanted in a car minus the liftback. I want a hatch so bad I might even consider having a shop custom fabricate a hatch on this thing, but that would be $$$

I am very happy it is not a hatchback but a coupé. Possiblity of easily putting carbon fiber roof, trunk and lexan rear window. Also I don't see the need of having to cary spare tires with. I'm anyway going to run semi-slicks on daily basis. Now I am south of Rome, and there is no snow here. If I go back to France or Germany, I am going to use my 147 with winter tires. But FT-86/BRZ come in march, so there is plenty of time to have fun with the car in spring and summer.

Other than using a trailer, have a buddy follow you, renting/owning a truck or dropping it off at the track the day before, that seems like like a good alternative.

If the weight is correct, 2800 lbs and it's a trunk. I definitely see that as a potential bust.

The fact that this doesn't have a hatch is very disappointing to me. I was planning on having this as my only car for the next 10+ years. This makes having a 2 door car a much more difficult decision for me, but I will reserve final judgement until the car is officially released.
