Picking up BRZ today. Anything I should look for?

It's been a grueling 1 month, 10 days and 21 hours since I ordered my BRZ, but I got the call and drove by the dealer this morning on the way to work to see her sleeping...

Anything I should know before I go in. I already have 1000$ down and I plan to finance half the car.

Miles, if there's less than 10, nice work! Otherwise, they've probably driven it.

Mine had 12 on it and I found out later at a local Subaru meet that the employees of the dealership did some quick hooning on the road that leads to the dealership. (

Bastards. I suppose it's hard to monitor what the dealer does when you're not there.

what's with the picture? why is it snowing INSIDE the showroom? or why is the dealership so dusty?

i'm still waiting for my BRZ, but i think i'd check the following when i pick up the car:
- miles on the car
- paint condition
- quick look of the under carriage
- if the inside is still wrapped in plastic
- give it a quick drive around the block

Good call. I didn't even think to drive it.

The reason why i suggest to drive it is because with all the little noises (problems) that people are reporting on this forum, you might be able to identify some while you drive along the block with the sales person in it. Also, some dealers cheap out on gas and they fill it up with regular instead of premium. If that happens, then you should hear engine pinging.

Only thing I found was 2 missing POP/screw fastners aft of the rear wheels, drivers side, Pass side were intact, I did a 2 hour inspection on the Car with one of my Aviation Maintenance co-works, the dealer asked if I was gonna take it or build my own!LOL I took it! Mine is 6AT, I asked him where the trans dip stick was... Took him 30 min to tell me it doesn't have one.:-(..

Mac

Oh, Put some single sided tape on the back bottom of the rear lic. Plate to prevent Paint scratches, On the front I chose to just pre drill and put plate on with self tappers, I don't want 2, 5/8" holes on the front bumper.

Elaborating on what chenshuo wrote:

Before you go to pick it up:
  1. Read the owners manual ahead of time and be prepared to ask questions.
  2. Skim the shop manual ahead of time and be prepared to ask questions.
  3. Think about any accessories you might want. I suggest the cargo tray, and since you're buying the car, they may sell you accessories at a discount (my dealership sold me the cargo tray for $55, and a bunch of oil filters and crush washers cheap).
While you're at the dealership:
  1. Do a full fircle check (walk around examining every panel for blemishes, check fluids).
  2. Take it on the highway during your test drive (or at least get up to highway speed).
  3. Pop the hood while the engine is running and listen for any unusual noises.
  4. Make sure the little plastic covers for the holes under the the doors were put in place.
  5. Check that the spare tire and tools are all there.
  6. Make sure the four floor mats are all included.
  7. Ask about whatever accessories you want, and if they'll match prices of other dealerships.
  8. Tell them ahead of time that you do not want a dealership decal or license plate frames (they should ask first, but sometimes they don't).
  9. Ask them to put some extra foam tape behind the rear license plate to prevent paint scratches.
  10. If you're not tech savvy, and if you have a BT phone, ask them to help you set it up.
Good luck and congrats!

Pick it up, drive it home, enjoy it. It will never be perfect, and the sooner you accept that the better off you will be.

It'll be brought up when I purchase my next BRZ. I'll be ordering one and if there's a single person driving it before I actually get there to see the plastic come off the wheels, they lose the sale lol. My dealership is crooked and are known to deny warranty's as well.

Then don't buy from them? Seems like setting yourself up for disappointment

Your dealer probably won't care much if you don't buy it from them. There are a lot more people in the line to buy this car if you don't end up buying by being too picky.

Skip the tutorial. My sales guy had no clue about any of the features of the BRZ so save yourself 1.5 hours and read the manual.
