Well, they've evolved away from what you call slotted too, so what's your point again?

Cause we know the incentives of both types of cars. Race car is to win races. Production cars is for the customer.
ok, I've done a heap of reading, but still can't get an answer. The BMW ALMS M3 uses cross drilled rear rotors, and grooved front rotors. I'm sure there's more, but that's not what I'm looking for....

Just everyone says they are so shit, but they still exist (and yes, even on race cars).
Supposed track car specials like GT3 and M3 CSL uses you guessed it, cross drilled rotors.

you named good cars....

but we named BETTER cars for the race track.

and I didn't say cross drilled is shit. Just a waste of money really...cause it doesn't make you stop any better than blanks.

Am I the only one who thinks that those fancy calipers will not make their ways to the final production model? Maybe, there are reasons why the calipers on the Kazoo FT-86 are painted silver and black, providing the camouflage effect and not making the calipers stand out?

Not anyone specifically, just the perception/stereotype. Interesting reading about the Porsche drilled rotor design though.

Not at all. I think you'll be lucky if it even got WRX brakes.

I think you misconstrued a lot of people's statements. Nobody called them shit, but for pure performance they're not optimal. Obviously they'll still stop you, but when you're trying to eek out every single fraction of a percent in performance, they're not what you need. I don't believe the supercar manufacturers put them on for performance reasons. It's merely that they work, they sell, and customers want them, so on they go.

They are just trying achieve a certain look. Racing is where that kind of stuff doesn't fly, so what you see in racing is what performs the best (for the most part, in rare cases street cars will get tech that's illegal in race cars because it gives too much of an advantage, for example the hydraulic anti sway system in the mp4c-12 or whatever it is called)

Drilled rotors aren't bad, but they cost
more and don't have any performance advantage. Like ZooLion said, they would hello kitty rotors on supercars if that's what would get people to buy them. In a race car, engineers are concerned with 1 thing: winning. In a street car, they are concerned with making money, and all the marketing BS that goes with it.
Get me some solid blanks and access to a CNC milling machine, stat!

im actually hopeful that they will come as an option. the FT86 II concept started out with ADVICS, then moved on to the Brembos, and now on the race car we see the same brembos but unmarked. so the ADVICS had no shot at production, they were just for the concept. and the Brembos also had a slim shot... but then they showed up on the race car! that's gotta make you go

AFAIK this brembo design has never been seen anywhere else. so if it was made specifically for the FT86 II concept, as a show piece, then we'd likely never see a "real" version. now that we have seen a real version, and that it was tested at the race, you'd have to lean towards it being a production piece just like the giant wing and body kit...

I'd like to see those calipers make it. Better pad wear and better modulation than sliding one pots.
