Being in the middle of winter here the FRS is not bad in the snow at all I think. Granted I live in the city so as long as the streets are plowed or salt layed down the FRS does just as good as any other car. Besides if it is ever any worse and inches start to pile up people shouldnt be driving in it anyways unless they have to. And the next morning it is cleared anyways. No big deal at all. I still may get a winter SUV next year just to keep the FRS away from the salt.

Hands down one of the most bizarre posts I've ever read on an online forum. Definitely a curveball I didn't see coming.

Lol. Snow plows your so funny. Oh wait these are real things? Can someone tell the Calgary government about these and how they work? Lol

But yeah no the car works fine In the winter. Just throw a couple bags of cat litter in the trunk for weight and use it to help with traction if you do get stuck. Winter tires are a must of course but no reason you have to park it. Unless you don't WANT to drive your $30,000 sports car. Wish I had the money to be able to justify that.

You know most of the cars in the 50, 60, and 70's are rear wheel drive and people got around fine. It's all about having the right tire for winter. Not sure how all the sudden rear wheel drive cars can't handle snow?

This car is great in the snow. We had 8-10 inches fall overnight on the 27th, and I drove 25ish miles to work the next day. The roads were sort of plowed until I got to the side streets in town. The last few blocks had me pushing snow with the front air dam/bumper cover, and the little car kept going. Love my Blizzaks.

Have had mine in the garage for hte past three weeks and couldn't take it anymore. Got it out on the hardpacked road, stopped, turned left, did a complete 180 on accident, kept going straight down the road to my garage. Think it will stay there until the roads are dry. Boy......I REALY MISS IT THOUGH!

I drive my GTO in the winter, and plan to drive the FR-S in the snow, too. All about having the right tires (a MUST) and knowing how to drive for the conditions.

Are snow tires any good on steep, icy hills? Where I live, sometimes chains (or cables) are required by law, even if you have snow tires. I have never used good snow tires - always just chains on all-seasons.

Am interested in trying snows if they work on ice and steep inclines.

My FR-S is my daily driver and there are only two things that you have to remember. The shoulder parts of winter suck because winter tires feel mushy in warm weather. And the other is that if you have been driving FWD for a while, you will have to re-learn the driving dynamics of RWD in the winter. The car will tell you what to do if you take the time to listen to it. The biggest thing is to make sure that your driving inputs are smooth and deliberate and don't over-correct.

My FR-S is my daily drive... I just wished for more curvy roads on my commute.

You must be down further south, I drove through upstate NY (from Vermont to Ogdensburg) on Dec 27th and the night before the area had received about 22" of snow, and it was still falling!

This car with winter tires on it handled it like a champ - saw a ton of SUV's and even a couple 18 wheelers off in the ditch but we had no problems...

They make an enormous difference, it's night and day really.
