someone has their fanboy knob turned to 11

1. i didn't diss the car, i said that after 26 years it's time to move on (as much as i would like to own one)

2. you're local and I recognize your name off the CASC forums, I don't know if my signature eluded you but I'm not "some guy," take the 7 out of my name maybe that will make sense

3. the FRS was not based off the AE86 directly, for one thing if it was they would have made it a hatch and gave it usable rear seats. The car you should really be pointing fingers at is the 2000GT.

There is nothing magical about the AE86, it was simply at the right time at the right place at the right price. It did not break boundaries or set innovative standards, it was just a car that people nostalgia for because in an attempt to produce a cheap vehicle Toyota got the formula right for the low-budget racer, go figure..... and going to the OP post definitely not something you should SNAG UP OMG for 5000 bucks.

1) I will admit I'm totally biased towards the AE86 since I've owned atleast 5, autocrossed, tracked and drifted them, engine swapped them and probably worked on or ridden in nearly every 86 in the ontario community.

2) The FR-S was based of many cars, the AE86 falls among them

3) If there's nothing special about the AE86, the same can be argued about the FR-S, BRZ, RX7, 350Z, 240SX, and any number of other cars.

We'll just have to agree to disagree

However we can agree on one thing, that car posted in this thread is OVER PRICED

I wasn't trying to start anything by posting this car. I know it's an auto, has and open diff, doesn't have the desirable engine, and it is over priced. What it does appear to have is a very solid body in beautiful condition. The drivetrain parts can be found...a body like this is hard to come by. I for one would pay close to the asking price if that is what it took to get it. I just don't have the space, and couldn't see myself leaving it out in the weather to rot until I got around to doing something with it. I thought that someone else would see what I saw in this car...a (very) clean slate to make something cool out of.
