Granted, the Escort is pretty much immune to RDD's, however I'm not so sure about the Valentine. These two videos show that the bel has to be placed right next to the Spectre 4 to be detected. The Valentine was picked up from 516 meters away.

In zombie movies, you know how it's always the brainsucker that appears out of nowhere that kills the pretty girl? It doesn't matter how much range a unit has, if you don't know where the threat is coming from. Arrows, people, arrows.

Wow, someone doesn't like being corrected when they state an obvious mistruth. The butt-hurt is strong with this one.

I love my V1..someone mentioned "who cares about the arrows and how many alerts...if you hear an alert slow down" (paraphrasing there)

I care how many alerts AND the direction they're coming from. Too many times people will get an alert, slow down and then pass by the cop on the side of the road. They will then accelerate back up to their cruising speed and over the next hill or around the next corner there's a group of cops waiting to nab you. I've tried many radar and laser detectors and my V1 picks up signal for miles at times. I've also been driving with a weak signal alerting me and the arrow pointing behind me so its nice to know there's a cop behind me with radar on. I hard wired it and placed it right above the left side of my rear view mirror and with the black headliner it blends right it. The suction cups didn't like the dot matrix on the windshield so I cut a small piece of 3M clear film and laid it on over the dots so the cups would stick. You can't see the film and its been in place ever since. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1355589485.732677.jpg

Ever have trouble mounting the detector that high? I've heard people say those black dots cause trouble for it.

No, not at all!! I have mounted it that high for years. The lower profile the car, the higher you should mount it. The only issues the "black dots" have ever caused is the suction cups don't like to stick for more than a day or two. I installed the 3M clear film first (just over the portion of the dots where I mounted the V1) and it hasn't moved a bit since. It works great, its out of the way, and its stealth so other drivers and police don't see it in plain view. Also good for thieves...they'll steal anything in plain sight. Aside from a full custom install of an integrated type system this is the best possible setup in the BRZ/FR-S in my opinion.

Nice, which 3M product did you use? Is it the same as the Clear Bra stuff? If so, do they sell a small amount which can be used for this? I'd rather not invest in an entire role just to get a 3 inch strip.

Also, is this applied with soapy water?

Also, those in VA be careful with V1's. They're not immune to the Spectre IV radar detector detectors that VSP uses.

I went to the local shop that installs clear bras and asked for a piece of scrap. They found one right away and wouldn't accept any money for it. It's 3M 8 mil film and you can use water w soap to apply. Works awesome!!

I found a link somewhere a long time ago about how to make a home laser jammer. Problem is, if you are the only one on the street and they try to clock you and cant, they call it felony obstruction of justice or tampering with a police investigation... so make sure you run a on off switch for those lonely roads!

Ah yes, I have yet to try that Escort Live deal!

I USE ESCORT LIVE... only good in the city from what I've found... not many people running them on long haul drives. At least from my experience.
