Yes, you are correct. If you wanted to move up to the bigger system, you could use your existing calipers and purchase new discs and brackets.

I want a 4-piston Formula kit with 2pc Sprint rotors. Or that caliper, painted so I can use it on the street. Please?

Awesome! Do you have any rough estimate of what it would cost?

I don't think the hard anodized finish is "unfriendly" for the streets. Most cars come without painted calipers from factory.

Whatever it is, road salt affects the caliper and that's an issue for me.

correct me if I am wrong here, but the comparion was between an alum piston and a steel one
go back and look closely, its not the caliper thats risking corrosion, its the unsealed(no dust boot) piston thats vulnerable to salt exposure, hence the effort to protect aluminum, which does corrode.

its the piston thats being double anno'd its alumium. I didnt see the language refer to hard anno, which is a different process. the steel/stainless machined is nicer imho, as the piston is a moving part and annodization goes on only so thick, and can wear off

The Essex Comp kits use a stainless piston. Jeff suggested to someone else swapping back to OEM brakes in the winter. It's work to do so but worth saving any BBK from the additional corrosion caused by road salt.

Maybe you could swap the calipers in the Sprint or Endurance kit for some of the AP CP-5200 Series road calipers? You'd have to make sure piston sizes, rotor sizes and pad thickness are all compatible. Not sure if that's something Essex can assist with, may not be worth the trouble for just a one-off kit...

First time out with the Essex kit installed and had zero problems. It was nice seeing 3 out of 6 BRZ/FRS had the Essex AP Racing kit

have you considered getting a cheap second car to drive in the winter?

i can't bear seeing all the road salt touching the BRZ.

Yes, but that's not something for this thread.

Hey Jeff or anyone that knows, is the AP Racing brake caliper temp strips a one time use product? Will only show the max temp or is it like a thermometer that can go up and down? I want to test my titanium shims to see if they actually help prevent heat transfer to the calipers.

This might be a stupid question but what is the recommended way to push the pistons in to install new/thicker pads? I noticed the C300 has a slimmer depth and when I went back to the Hawk HPS it was a pain to get them in.
