I just finally installed mine today and it was easy and works great. It took me longer to find a comfortable way to crawl under the steering column than it did to switch out the flasher. Tie wrap to hold it tightly in place and done. Now my dad wants one for his 4Runner.

Just ordered mine today. Does it have a louder "click" sound then the stock relay? I have a hard time hearing the stock relay when I have the stereo turned up.

Does the proximity key set have remote buttons on it for door lock / unlock?

I think 4runner uses the same flasher module, so it should work no problem!

Yes it does, and the Windows are Auto Up Auto Down.

From our email conversations and since the BRZ has auto up/down windows, can I just get the Basic set, install it and get Up/Down functionality with they Key Fob?

Thanks for your prompt replies.

When you say auto up and auto down does that mean one-touch of the interior switch will make the windows go all the way, instead of having to hold the switch?

This is essentially what the dei530t module does, except it also remains powered when the car is off, and will apply power to window motor if commanded by one of its input lines.

Ironically, autowindow does not care or need or use the one-touch feature of the dei530t, it simply uses this module's capabilities for powering and driving the window motors while the car is off.

Now, if the BRZ can move windows while key is out, then we have something to look into further.

Q: does your car have "retained accessory power" whereby after stopping the car and taking the key out, you can still use the radio and other interior accessory powered devices for a while? On some cars this works until you open a door. I think you know what I'm talking about. My Legacy doesnt have this feature and just wondering if BRZ got around to adding this very thing? (Guess what? I made an add-on module for this feature and now have retained accessory power... Like it should have come with in the first place!)

What I can and will do for you is drill a few sound hole "grills" through the flasher case and this will allow more sound out.

Also be sure to physically mount the Tapturn flasher the same way as your stock one is mounted solidly to a plastic box. This helps resonate sound in the dash. People who want softer sound might let the module dangle in air or zap strap it loosely to something nearby.

Thanks Scott, That's great! Can't wait to get it.

Yes, you don't need to hold down the button, its one touch up and one touch down.

On your second question its also a yes. After you turn the car off (push button off), windows keep power until you open a door.

Now I ask, given all of this information, do I still need the DEI530T or would autowindow be able to use this feature (able to control windows for a short period of time after car off) to not need DEI530T?

Happy new year! I've repackaged the Tapturn module by shrinking the PCB to fit a smaller space, now resides inside the flasher case itself and looks like the photos attached. It's functionally identical to earlier packaging just neater all around.

This sounds all very promising. I have to ask another question about the resumption of accessory power... When you approach your parked car that is sitting there off, what are the steps you'd have to do in order to use power windows WITHOUT starting the car?

And another question about retained accessory power. Suppose you shut off the car and use power windows while sitting there inside, and you don't open the door.. How long have you got (time in minutes) to use windows before the car just cuts off accessory power anyway - without you ever opening a door. Does it go on indefinitely?

For the firs question, The power windows can be operated when the engine switch is in the “ON” position.

For the second question, The power windows can be operated for aproximately 45 seconds even after the push-button ignition switch is turned to “ACC” mode or turned off. They cannot, however, be operated once either door is opened.

@scottmcphee

See wiring car diagrams attached.

Wouldn't it be possible to replace the relay that turns off the power to the windows for a relay that stays on all the time and that way tap turn works all the time? Just brainstorming, I have no idea if that is the way it works.
