Right now I am debating on, if I should buy a used Subaru.

All in all, what put a smile on my face, is finding out some of the cleaning crews had a hard time. That is karma for almost covering my car with snow.
as tough as this sounds, this is where you need a "beater" with (f.w.d.) for the winter,or if not, then wait for the streets to be plowed first.

Days like these, I might just car-pool. The streets / highway were supposed to be plowed, but it seems the city and government couldn't keep up. Now all I can hope for, is that they manage to clean up the mess over night. I know a ton of cars are snowed in. I want to know how that problem will get fixed.

apparently a little slow up there in montreal! guess the city needs to open up the snow budget, and hire more subcontractors. funny thing, here in new england,we had virtually an open winter, and a lot of the snow money got syphoned off,and wound up in the general fund, and then it got spent!..just sayin'

when you receive 19 inch of snow in 24h, you have to accept that they cant remove all of it in an hour.

don't know why we are receiving that much of snow, since the beginning of winter... it wasn't like that last year....

(to give an idea, we received in quebec city, in december, 71cm of snow, while last year, for the whole winter, montreal had 130cm....... trois rivieres already have 89cm, while they had 129cm for the whole winter last year....)

You are missing out! When I first moved to the US during fall season, everything was dead and depressing compared to Dubai. Then winter hit and it snowed. I was so happy the first year! But wait! It becomes shitty....having to clear the driveway...snow just becomes the last thing you need...

I am trying to figure out, how much weight I should put in the trunk for the winter driving. 200 pounds of sand bags or even more?

150 would be a good place to start.
