Mine makes the same noise. I sprayed wd40 a few weeks back and it didn't help. I tried pushing down on the shelf to see if it was loose and nothing. It's really annoying.

mine made this popping/cracking noise for months, then transformed into a different noise, and after a few weeks, it went away all together.
I did absolutely nothing.

Going to see how the grease worked when I leave for home later today. Might go apply a little more in a bit, since I only applied a very little amount, but what I did apply seemed to work fine.

Yeah the noise is still there, just not as frequent. It's really quite annoying.

ok...so I don't know if this has been asked, but it's hard to search for this....
Does anyone know if the noise is actually BAD for the car? Like, if you have the noise and you don't have the TSB done, the welds in the area will eventually fail or something crazy like that? if it's just noise, I can live with that... |

I just updated my first post. Can you try spraying WD40 that way instead of spraying into the pocket?

My little fix is still working just fine. Great place to store a putty knife, non invasive and chemical free.
