Mine makes the same noise. I sprayed wd40 a few weeks back and it didn't help. I tried pushing down on the shelf to see if it was loose and nothing. It's really annoying.

mine made this popping/cracking noise for months, then transformed into a different noise, and after a few weeks, it went away all together.

I did absolutely nothing.

Mine is really only audible when the music is a low or during a low point of a song. But it is really annoying. It's been more pronounced as of late, so I'm hoping it'll go away, like yours. Going to see how the grease worked when I leave for home later today. Might go apply a little more in a bit, since I only applied a very little amount, but what I did apply seemed to work fine.

Yeah the noise is still there, just not as frequent. It's really quite annoying.

ok...so I don't know if this has been asked, but it's hard to search for this....

Does anyone know if the noise is actually BAD for the car? Like, if you have the noise and you don't have the TSB done, the welds in the area will eventually fail or something crazy like that? if it's just noise, I can live with that...

I highly doubt thw noise is bad, or else they would've done a recall. Then again, only time can tell if it'll turn into a problem, but I don't think it will.

I just tried it last night. Yes, it moves a lot. I could press it down with only about 5 lbs of force.

Yes, that's the noise! Yours is making the noise more frequently than mine. Is it ok if I put this vid on my first post? I didn't take any vid before I got rid of the noise.

I just updated my first post. Can you try spraying WD40 that way instead of spraying into the pocket?

I really doubt that this noise does anything bad for the car. It's just the 2 pieces of painted metals rubbing each other making the noise. It only gives you stress and makes you live shorter life.

I would try using a thicker lubricant (motorcycle chain lube worked for me).

That's good to hear that I'm not the only one who has this. Thought something might have got damaged somehow.

My little fix is still working just fine. Great place to store a putty knife, non invasive and chemical free.
