I agree the course you are on makes a huge difference with Stang vs FRS. Thats why I got the FRS, because I knew all I would be doing is Autocross. If I was drag racing I would have got a 05 gt or something, tracking...a used porsche...rally, a STI

Sometimes this is so Political. Get your brain cells organized. The Mustang beats the FRS despite being heavier and having less than graceful handling. Period.
Now, if you set up an xross track for cars alittle bigger than go carts, ofcourse the FRS will win. So What? Just enjoy the FRS handling, if you bought it to win races, you really did not do your home work. This car is not a race sports car. Go with a Corvette, Porsche, or yes even the Mustang that you see up and down the block in your neighborhood. Your ego will feel much better. Potential talk is such BS. Every car has serious potential and can be turbocharged, braked and tuned up... how many of these people will really do that ? I think all this forum is doing is repeating with new people in da mix the same forum stuff we have been saying for months. Lock all the threads, make them read it and they will find all this banter already exists.

if you want a stock motor with loads of potential, the frs gets absolutely destroyed by the coyote motors ford puts out let alone just about every engine in the more direct competitors of the frs. also, if there has been any kind of car person that has said found on road dead, its gonna be a ford guy.

Like the above says, really two different classes of cars to be appreciated. Enjoy what you have and don't sweat what the other guys have. You'll be much better off in the long haul. The FRS is a great sports car.

I remember a Boss302 driver being blown away at my little stock-powertrain BRZ at the last HPDE I was at. His jaw was hanging. There's a HUGE power discrepancy between the two cars and which performance formula pays better dividends? BRZ

It all depends on what you want to do with it. I had a little v6 mustang and I never really did much with it but it was a boat load of fun and a good daily car. If I wanted a drag car than a mustang gt would be a great starting point the FR-S wouldn't if I wanted a track day or autoX like I do now I would go for the FR-S. A well modded mustang still makes me look foolish on the track but mine is more fun daily so I don't care.

I'm don't want to rain on your parade here but a Boss 302 will annihilate a FRS/BRZ with equal drivers. That guy was either scared or just taking the car out for the first few times. Dollar for dollar you could argue the car is a better deal but that is a very diff conversation. The Boss has better lap times at LS than an Audi R8, older GTR and several other super cars.
