Yup, and the thread title of this is BRZ, not FRS...

But anyway, all Subies come with bumper to bumper including wear items except tires (including brakes, clutches, wipers, etc) for 3yr/36k.

That's cool I thought it would have been the same. But I do find it hard to believe that its covered if they are charging him for the clutch job. It must have some fine lines or something. For his misfortune I hope they do cover it because its so new.

I learned something new thanks :happy0180:

Yeah, my guess is that the dealership is trying to charge him and see if they can get away with it OR more likely they are trying to say it was "abused" which may in fact be the case, although I've seen a bunch of TOBs be replaced on 2010 WRXs under warranty.

What did you do for the price to go down? Did it at a private shop?

Can you describe how was it that you drove it? Did you slip the clutch every single shift and a lot?

It's thread like these that make me dread going to the dealership for problems with my gearbox.

"Sorry bro, you're a noob and toasted your clutch/synchros. We won't warranty that"

Yeah, cause if I had someone come in with a fender hanging off, I'd definitely want to replace that under warranty instead of telling them it's their own damn fault for damaging the car.

Dealerships can deny warranty work if there's significant evidence of abuse to the car, same as any manufacturer warranty for any product, car or otherwise.

I was not saying that they need to warranty abuse, only that I'd be afraid of dealerships INTENTIONALLY denying coverage under the guise of "abuse" when there really is none.

Dealerships have been pretty sketchy for years now, so I definitely understand where you're coming from, but if they refuse warranty work on your car you DO have legal action you can take against them. If you fight it, they'll have to prove that it was abuse. If it was actually a defective part or something well within warranty, they'll honor it. But honestly, if you don't have a dealership you trust, you should find one you can. Too many people are willing to let dealers push them around instead of taking a stand. Customers need to stick up for themselves.

Which is why I don't go to the dealership that sold the WRX I previously owned. I'm in the process of finding one I like, actually.

Still say he was trolling everyone, and then he spat out a number that was about half off and said it all got done.

Yeah, lack of input has made this a circle jerk. OP fail.
