So they're going to make a sedan by extending a chassis which was chopped from another sedan?

This would suck, but would not surprise me if it happened. Why waste the time and money developing something new when they can just throw some doors on something they already have. smh

I think from looking at the examples from BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, etc that we can certainly say that giving two more doors to a coupe is almost always a bad idea.

The only exception is the Aston 4dr coupe. But Aston is incapable of making a bad looking car.

Look at what Subaru did with the GC Impreza. The body of the coupe and the 4 door are the same length. The coupe just has longer doors. Not sure if you can still get away with that these days though.

Why would you say that? Look at the M3's. E36 had good success with the sedans, which came 2 years after the intro of the coupe. Then they decided not to go with a sedan option for E46. Guess they had more demand than they thought, because it's back for E92's. Looks like they're making plans to continue the sedan option for the next gen as well. I've always loved the lines of the M3 sedans over the coupe anyway.

Eh...it's not likely they'll make a 4 door version. Rumors at best, designed to annoy kia/hyundai in their quest to build a RWD based on the 4 door forte. It'd be underpowered (for most members here) and honestly most of us would have considered other more powerful options if we really needed to haul 4 people. Underpowered & 4 doors...remind me of old VW vanagons, just cause you can fill it full of people and crap, could luck cruising at a normal speed, hit a hill your passengers have to get out and walk up LOL.

Link with other pictures of mock-ups; don't think any is supposed to be furia:

I meant the coupe shape. So: BMW X6, Porsche Panamera, Lamborghini Estoque, and Maserati Quattroporte' (though I'm not a fan of Maser design anyways).

Correction. GM & GC had a different B Pillar area. GM (coupe) was further back due to long heavy doors vs GC (sedan) had B Pillar more center of the car. A lot of tuners/shops prefer GC over GM.

For those that want a RWD compact sedan...there's really nothing until you go up to a 3-series.

Personally, I would love to see the BRZ/FRS in a sedan trim. I'm not saying they're going to make a killing on it, but I think they would get enough interest to take away sales from Jettas, Mazdas and Si's.
I wholeheartedly agree it's a vacant niche in the market, and I've been hoping the success of the FR-S/BRZ would inspire someone to fill it. Maybe an 86 derived Toyota/Subaru, maybe not. I'd like to see Honda take a crack at it, because they still seem to build the best NA fours, but I don't see it happening. Maybe Mazda have something up their collective sleeve, as they've made noises about more rotary engines coming out, but another RX coupe is probably more likely. Apparently BMW's next 1 Series will be available as a sedan, but I doubt it will be well equipped for less than about $37k.

That's terrible. Everyone knows by now that only the mule was based on a chopped sedan chassis.

I'd love a new sedan in the spirit of the X chassis (Chaser/Cressida/Mark 2) but then Toyota would have to make it.

I don't think a BRZ sedan makes any sense because we already have the Impreza and Legacy.
