Hope it's not a sign of problems to come. I'm kind of dreading my first oil change.

I've continued to notice it but no rough idle since it always stays at 500 and above.

Yesterday I was driving in manual mode (have the auto) and I down shifted & the idle jumped to 3800 RPM, then I hit the brakes and came to a full stop...idle over shot the 700 rpm (mine idles at 650-700 now) went to 500 and quicklly back to 700. Weird

Thankfully, no stalls and no Cels, yet!

I've got good luck and bad luck. My FR-S was bought back by the dealer. I'm #34 on the list. I bought a BRZ Limited and it was running perfectly until today. A couple of idle drops then it gave me the dreaded CEL. I just reset. We shall see what it is when it comes back. I'm too busy tomorrow to drop at the dealer. But Wednesday. 6500 miles (1500 after oil change) VIN 6034**
So, have Toyota and Subaru figured this out yet?

Chris

If your VIN is in the 6034** range then you may need a ECU flash or replacment to correct the idle/Cam issue. Dealer should know

I should have received my car today but, they said that the new ECU did not arrive yet. However, it should be installed by this Thursday.

Red Shift reporting in on CEL problem #204 on the list:
They replaced the ECU and returned the car to me on Friday Dec 14. It has run beautifully since then (150 miles, 4 days). They estimated 3-4 weeks but got it done in less than 2. I'll wait a few more weeks before scheduling the party, but it's really promising. I hope they've figured this thing out. It would be terrible if all the great word-of-mouth publicity gets cancelled by reliability issues. Thanks for maintaining this thread. It was a real help to have a source of information.

Had my car in the shop one day on 12/17. They just had the ECU re flashed for the check engine light. Everything seems to be ok besides it being down on power and a crappy throttle response. I'm assuming it'll get better after I put some more miles on it?

Why are some people getting their ECU's replaced and others getting a reflash for the fr-s? Does it just depend on your VIN? I read through most of this thread and i don't seem too confident in this re flash working out. Love the car but maybe I should of stuck with honda! Eh, first year problems...

I had my ECU reflashed and it was/is NOT down on power, nor does it have crappy response. I don't believe it will magically get better. Good Luck getting it back to the way it was.

5th day of driving car with modified ECU. Runs beautifully. Workshop/Dealer only had car for 2 hours and were very open to my thoughts and ideas (thanks to this forum site) about replacing ECU. Feel like I have a brand new car again

Exclamation

Seeing that there are different approaches of repairing the CEL/SL/Idle issue

1. Cam gear sprocket replacement
2. ECU replacement
3. ECU reflash

Isn't it now possible to create different lists containing the production dates of vehicles and the fix required. Or is that just depending on dealership experiences?
