Since I did mine I notice a burning clutch smell every once and awhile. Not sure if its from driving with boots on with this light clutch or if the engagement point is too low. Its even with the brake pedal right now.

However --- after all is said and done my cluch petal is adjusted just slightly lower than the brake pedal (I have not measured yet) and it does feel better. Instead of reaching an engagment point at 80% out of clutch it is more like 50% now. I did have to adjust the sensor for the cruise/gear thing.

I am still not used to how LIGHT the clutch is. I thought this mod made it feel lighter or that I did something wrong but I think the clutch is just really light to begin with.

Thanks much for this DIY!!!

(long time lurker --- but just got an FRS last friday---PICS LATER )
I also noticed that mine is noticeably lighter now. I think it might have something to do with the downward adjustment precompressing the clutch return spring that sits on the firewall.

Thanks for this post I already find the clutch waaaay too light for my liking and the clutch pedal travel to be too short also so I guess I'm staying away from this mod.

It has too much of a springy feel like its on rubber bands vs a spring.

Did this mod yesterday. Its been on my list, just haven't gotten around to it.

My god what a difference. Car is so much more enjoyable to drive now. Have it set slightly higher than the brake pedal.

Adjustment took less than 5 minutes. I am not sure what some are talking about it in here about those bolts being tight, unless you have the strength of a 12 year old lol. Maybe my bolts weren't as tight but they broke free with little force. It was a little tricky adjusting the cruise control sensor because you need to use both hands and contort all crazy but overall it was easy.

If you haven't done this mod, get on it!

Yes, thanks to OP. i asked my dealership to adjust this on arrival a week before the car arrived from japan they looked at me like i was kidding... They had only sold maybe 4, and serviced none at that point though...

Thanks again to Koji for the OP and Joe for the great video based on Koji's post. I just adjusted mine (about 10 minutes) to be just about even with the brake pedal and already felt so much better after going around the block a couple of times.

I also had the feeling that there wasn't any play with the clutch, until I realized it was only because I had to constantly angle or hover my foot, and the only time I could come in contact with the clutch was to shift. The clutch feel was my biggest/only gripe with the car, and now I'm looking forward to seeing the results as I get more used to the new set-up!

What an amazing difference this made. It is like a new car again! I positioned the clutch pretty much even with the brake like so many others. This was one of the only real gripes I had about the car. The clutch feel. Now it is very reminiscent of my SI which, to me, had a perfect clutch.

I Just Did Mine, I Think I May Have Set It Too Low. It Should Be Good As Long As It's Not Grinding Or Anything Right?

Did mine as suggested by OP (just a tad under the brake). Night and day in terms of how much easier it is to find the bite point. Hill starting like a baws now

EDIT: oh yeah its a bit harder to screw the bolt back on in our RHD 86s as the rod is directly connected to the clutch, not through the rotating arm, and as a result there is a lot of shit that prevents you from properly getting a wrench on it - had to temporarily remove the white stopper grommet and use a short wrench in order to secure it properly.

The clutch is already really soft, did you guys adjust it to make the engagement lower? I feel that this car has a really soft clutch and a high catch for how soft it is, but easy to drive for sure.
