I've had my BRZ a week. I love it.

I have no kids, only two small dogs which will NEVER be allowed inside. If my GF needs a ride or wants to come along fine but there will only ever be two people in this car.

I have a Mazda 6 company hack to haul the dogs and the bikes and the shopping.

I bought it as a reward for 20 years hard slog in the family business which we just sold and as a 40th birthday present.

I've met fellow owners online and in the real. Yesterday an 86 owner and I played for 100km on back country coastal roads east of the city. Mmmmmm Twilight Road.

This car is for me and my driving enjoyment.

(Can you tell? Its all about ME

People like this are the same people to adopt something when it first comes out just because its something they havent seen before. Disregarding the money/practicality involved. No sympathy for fools such as this. Dont get me wrong his opinion is his opinion, but his comparisons are just like wtf were you thinking in the first place? Thumbs down.

I was actually happy when I saw t he true lack of leg room in the back seat. Now, I dont have to worry about having passengers back there.

I dont like that I have read about the various issues people have had with their cars. But, I think this happens with a lot of cars. I jsut came from a BMW 135. It ws on it's 3rd HPFP. The AC crapped out every year of ownership. Along with a few other issues along the 3 years of ownership.
I'm just glad we haven't seen anything like the tire feathering issue on the early 350z's that were released. At least nothing like that yet, knock on wood!

This car (BRZ) is fantastic. 6 months of ownership. DD except for rainy days (none until the past few weeks), and trips to the mall (parking lot ding anxiety!).

I do have a WRX wagon as my other car - more power (Cobb tuned), AWD, real back seat, lots of cargo room. It's not very exciting to drive. It's not bad, just nothing close to as fun as climbing into the BRZ. I think I used the nav once. Stereo is ok except I need hard buttons for "next/previous" on the presets instead of the "take your eyes off the road and have good aim" touch screen.

Cup holders work fine for me. My son can even use them from the back seat! Holds my drink, my iPhone, and my sun glasses in the center console. What else do you need?

And, for the record, I haven't gone back to the dealer for anything yet.

It's a car magazine, they "bought" it for testing purposes and to report their findings, not for their families but for their readers.

No, they're not. They mentioned the lack of parts availability and went out of their way to mention this was somewhat expected due to it being a first year car. They also said they would wait for the fixes before trying a new head unit. The complaint was having to wait for the parts.

For everyone harping on the comments about it not being a great daily driver...you guys are acting way too defensively. It's a long term review, are they supposed to not talk about its daily driving capabilities as if not one single potential customer might want to have that info? Why bother reviewing it at all then?

The only comments you guys should make in regards to their assessment should be a simple "duh, that's what we expected before we bought it". And their reply would be: "well yea, we expected it too, but did you want us to not report our findings?".

Automobile magazine's Audi a7 was recently stolen. Apparently they looked to the BRZ to fill the road tripping, high occupancy luxury gap. Sorry to say the little import coupe just wasn't as comfortable or practical as the enormous German luxury autobahn sled.

Well, keep drinking that kool-aid and drawing your own incorrect conclusions from what they did not say.

I am. Finding the perfect car is becoming quite the task. This shopping experience is nothing like it was in the past, there's always something missing from every car I like this time around.

Dude I felt the same way shopping around. I couldn't find a perfect car so I went with what offers the most fun for my taste .

Right, and from what I'm seeing there's little chance it will survive my 17000 miles a year 95% city driving for 7 years minimum AND...require little to no maintenance in the process. That last part is the most crucial and is exactly what the OP and I are talking about and worried about.

If I was buying this as a second vehicle, I'd already have one. There is still a small chance. The alternative unfortunately will be a huge step in another direction. A Civic Si for example would be a small side-step according to my vision.

So fuck yea I'm miserable, and totally pissed. Where the hell is Honda with something even remotely like this car? Or a real Toyota? Hell, make the damn Corolla a coupe and add some balls to it. Make a Camry coupe, etc., etc., etc.
