Sounds like some folks made a blind purchase and now not happy.. Who would buy this as a family car?

Agreed. For what it is, it's highly practical.

Tt3Sheppard 12-13-2012 12:05 PM

I would say its practical for someone who doesn't have to worry about bringing kids around or loads of stuff from Home Depot. So yea its perfect for me as a daily driver.

Sounds like a good review to me. They are crying about a tail-light that has a TSB out for it and the NAV has one too. There's an inexpensive piece to buy at aftermarket audio shops to increase and amplify reception of HD radio stations.

That is really great considering this is the first year of production. I love my BRZ. It starts my day off very nicely when I hop into it every morning and head to work. It ends my day really nicely when I really get to play with her driving past my house and heading for the twisty backroads.

I love my BRZ.

I'll be honest, at first, I thought the car would be impractical. But after owning it for 3 months, I have found it to be very practical and fine as a daily driver.

Typical soccer mom...

"I bought a sports car and now I can't get my coffee"

I don't recall the car ever being marketed as a perfect daily driver.

Dave-ROR 12-13-2012 12:33 PM

Their complaints are valid. Their expectations seem to have been slightly off but it's still a valid review. Similar reviews hit magazines of the Integra Type-R but it's still one of my favorite cars that I've ever owned.

These cars are great for the people who "get it". For the others, they are pointless, harsh, loud, impractical and poor buys.

It's a perfect DD for me. Quieter than my ITR, sorta-heated seats, sat radio...

I don't disagree, that's why I ordered one too.

But it's never been marketed as the perfect daily driver, so the complaints in the article about it not being one are silly.

Corvettes make poor gravel haulers. Who'd have thought?

Hey now i stopped at Menards this past weekend and got a 6x6 x 10 piece of lumber...i got it into the FRS after I had them cut it into 3 ft sections as that is the size I needed but still lol.

While I normally like Automobile Mag's pieces, I think this one is stupid and nitpicky as hell. Saying a car isn't a good daily driver because it has condensation in a tail light and minor nav problems, both issues having a TSB, is incredibly stupid. A daily driver is typically gauged by reliability and cost of ownership. MPG, ride, cargo space, etc. "It doesn't look new anymore" is such a bullshit excuse to say it's not a good daily driver. The article came off as whiney, not concerned.

Cry me a friggen river. Sounds like a bunch of whining to me. Starbucks? No problem.

It's fine as a daily driver assuming you made an educated buying decision in the first place. If you were expecting a family car or something to carpool with for your kids swim team, then you're sorely mistaken. If you were looking for something fun to drive that is comfortable for DD and the occasional road trip, this is an excellent choice.

Personally I bought this as a DD and weekend HPDE car. It's perfect for my intentions.
