Engineers do their job to ensure that the wheels fitted on an unmodded body is "safe".
So if you put wheels on it and the wheels can clear the inner fender walls (without mod), then it means the wheel is "okay" to use. So Near flush, or maybe 5-10mm under flush would be best suited. Subaru is known to put BIG wide fender lips which require rolling to have any decent sized wheels, this is okay I think. I do CRINGE when I see people have to "PULL" fenders out or put Cambers greater than suggested values. You know your wheels are too fat if you have DEFORM the fenders to make them fit in.... and 10 degree cambers are silly. Flush looks is fine, but if you have to PULL the fender and/or do ridiculous cambers.... your asking to damage your car's durability and performance. With that said... I expect them to come out with 17 x 7, 17 x 8 wheels as stock. My general thumb of rule is +1~1.5 inch width is OKAY, and +1 inch DIAMETER is OKAY. 18 x 7.5, 18 x 9, would be excellent hehe. And a bit disappointed with 100x5 PCD..... 114.3 is more tuner friendly, 100x5 PCDs are for tiny cars or econovans.... and yes I know WRXs and Legacys use this pattern, but they should all be same as STI now... which is 114.3.... so wheels can be used between cars easily. |

Lol.
Those super lowered cars aren't reasonable. I've always asked why they liked that hellaflush look and their answer was.. "more aerodynamics!" You can't even go fast in that thing! LOL So whenever I see one of them go up a drive way to a plaza or something and turn sideways to get on.. I just pull up my yaris and drive infront of them. Lol.. HELLASLOW.

Andy, sorry for your loss. But not meaning to sound like a **** can you please explain what went wrong on said car. A streched tire unbeaded? Driver unable to compinsate for wider tires or excessive offset while cornering? I'm just curious, if its just bringing up bad memories than just forget I asked.

The funny thing is, it wouldn't surprise me if someone has already tried to do this. LOL!

The SVX has 5x114.3
I must admit I dont really have a clue about wheel offsets etc. I always kept the orginal rims that came on my cars lol.

Well if it's still 5X100 on production version, I'll be kind of happy. My present wheels on my Corolla ( C-ONE SA-90 ) is 5X100 and +33 offset... but they are 16"... It will make a nice set of track wheel :P

Considering Toyota's 5-lug wheels are 5x114.3, I'd be really surprised if this were different.
Since this is just a concept, wouldn't put much weight into its specs. |

I would prefer the 5x114.3. But if it's 5x100...that's fine too. I'm fine with whatever they put on there. The aftermarket will support this platform no matter what. They could put a 6 lug hub on it and the aftermarket would start making wheels to fit it.
I think we'll be alright either way. |

Bridge Stone Potenza RE 86 was on Toyota MR2 '84 model. Size was a lot smaller. The ones on showroom seems like that label 86 was tacked on AFTER the tire was produced. The car is so light, just about any tire will work on them. My old 240SX had the same weight with less balance, and still didi well on cheap AVON 500 tires. |
