In the process of selling my 2002 Camaro SS 35th Anniversary Limited Edition convertible for my FR-S. Besides the massive power difference, the FR-S is a lot more fun to drive and reliable.

It explains all the differences nicely, including the lights. Just keep in mind the comparison is of a Premium BRZ vs FRS. Limited BRZ includes foglights, spoiler, dual climate control w/ toggle switches, leather/alcantara seats, heated seats, keyless entry, push button start, and I think that's it.. look it up.. Only comparison missing from blog that I heard of is that the performance difference is just different spring rates - brz = softer, frs = stiffer, though not by much. Also we got the comparison for non-USDM models here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2998 difference is that FRS gets all options BRZ gets, and its got cooler headlights. |

Yep I felt the FR-S drove much better than the 2013 Mustang GT I test-drove a while back. Probably unfair to expect the Mustang to handle like a much smaller/lighter sports car though.

And dealer will 99% not help you get BRZ headlights to install in an FRS. Here's a local (really awesome) shop that carries OEM BRZ headlights: http://fastwrx.com/subrzhe.html at $1,849.00 - comes full with HID tilt adjustor thing. |

Wait awhile, a few may show up in junkyards.. or do what most FRS owners do, get a HID conversion kit. Saw some guy got lucky - had to replace headlights for some reason, and dealer got JDM ones to install free under warranty. (GT86 headlights are different but awesome too). Otherwise, probably SOL.

FINALLY! SOMEONE LIKE ME! Prepare to rock the **** out, man. It's unbelievable. I can head out on Sunday morning when all the old folks are at church and tear it up. If you put the stability control in sport mode it will let you have fun, but gently gather you up before you try to romance the guard rail. It's flawlessly good for back roads. As far as incentives, I got mine out the door for MSRP after the 1000 off college rebate on an FR-S. The BRZ has more toys, but I do not know how important they are. They were not important enough to me to justify the ridiculous premiums ($2000 above msrp) and the preposterous wait time (like 8 months) to get my hands on one. I have had my FR-S for 2 months and daily driven it through every weather and I freaking LOVE IT. I have driven the 2012 Mustang GT and I wouldn't trade straight-up. I haven't driven the camaro but I suspect that it would feel like a boat compared to the FR-S. The twins fit like a glove.... and if they were ANY smaller they'd fit like a condom. Honestly, you sit in it for about 5 minutes and know where the corners are, how it will behave everywhere, and how it will work with YOU. It isn't there as something you have to manhandle, or wrangle, or anything else. It's an extension of you. And it'll do what you tell it. And you're the only other person I've run in to on here who actually has the roads local to them to enjoy the damned thing. All these socal and florida folks get screwed by geography and traffic. Get one, baby it to 1000 miles and then flog the hell out of it and you'll thank me. Get a for sale sign too, because unless you're drag racing, your beloved camaro is in trouble when it's competing against an 86 for your heart. Just sayin'

Well said Ingen, well said! I live in Central Florida and will be heading to Atlanta for Christmas. Is it sad that I am super excited to get out of Florida to find some worthy roads to drive my FR-S on in Georgia?!

I really thought I loved my '02 SS 35th limited for the value it had in only 3000 of them being made... sounds absolutely amazing, looks beautiful, very fast. Still... even with all that, I still LOVE my FR-S more if that explains how awesome this car is. BUY IT.

The FR-S is a great daily driver as long as you don't need much back seat space, and it is an absolute riot on a twisty backroad. It will complement the Camaro nicely, and save you a bunch of cash at the gas pump. This I know, because I also have a supercharged Mustang (which didn't see a lot of miles this summer 'cause I was having too much fun with the FR-S). Go for it!
