Nor sure why they wouldn't use a regular heavy duty pipe clamp between the Y and the right can. It looks like there are two different angles there where they meet and that didn't help either. While the design is very similar to the SRT, execution appears less than satisfactory. If you've had this much problem, I'd have to imagine there are others out there that may be experiencing the same problem, unless there's been a design change.

Well from what I gather looking at the SRT exhaust, it is a slip fit and the clamp goes on over the top of that to hold it together..
Pccaso87 has stated that his was essentially a butt connection, as in one pipe wasn't flared out to accept the other. To me it sounds like they just forgot to flare the pipe. |

Lap joints with lap clamps on the other hand are designed for the one tube to be swagged, the other pipe is inserted into it, then the lap band is placed over the joint. This means the clamp is ONLY a clamp, and the overlap of the tube guarantees the clamp is never a pipe. In some instances you can do a lap joint and not even need a clamp, like in the joint of a H-pipe. |

Give me a break, people screw up all the time and pcasso screwed up by not securing his exhaust all the way which is obviously vivid/AP's fault. It's always their fault no matter what. This guy needs to act like an adult and accept that he didn't install his exhaust properly and it fell apart as a result.

As cool as the bolt it together yourself, and not go to the muffler shop sounds. I'd recommend against it every single day!
I had a Mustang GT and I went through several x-pipes, and cat-back setups, and every single one that had the bolt and clamp stuff sucked. Take it to the muffler shop, have them line it up, then hit it with some solid welds. D |
