I doubt it; his (her?) car was one of the first 86. So if it's still in the break-in period, they are NOT driving that car nearly enough!

As far as the conversation recorded? These guys are service workers, I mean what do you expect guys talk about behind closed doors? Its almost offensive you posted this up without their permission actually.

This is a primary reason why recording devices are bad in the wrong hands.
You're welcome to disagree, and I'm not here to argue over the details more than what I just said supports why the driver of this car was upset over what we found. I suspect many people will agree with you. But people agree with me too.

Again, I'm not here to go back and forth about the specifics of how much tire squeal is too much tire squeal. Or how many RPMs are too many RPMs (it's very hard to tell that anyways from the vid). I came here only to get some advice on this situation. That is what I thought this forum was for. I did NOT expect or want this thread to blow up into what it became.

So to say that I am overreacting, I think you need to go back and read what my expectations were of what was to come of this. I did NOT ask for anything specific, I did NOT ask for someone to be fired. I did NOT name names or expect to publicly shame a dealership. I did NOT ask for a new car, an extended warranty, or new tires. So how can I overreact when every post I've made on this thread has been objective and without an ounce of anger?

As for the conversation, I tried to set that up as best I could to be very lighthearted. Hell, if you want to ask for a nitpicky fix like disabling the DRL, perhaps this shows you are better off being a young lady. And again and again and again, to say for the millionth time, I'm not indicting any particular dealership or a specific person.

the car shouldn't be treated that way during the break in period

We'd done that first oil change a few weeks before this appointment, so yeah, we were over the break-in period, but as this is Sho's daily driver, we had yet to take a real joyride. I can't comment on the shift indicator thing, since I don't know where she has it at. I do know that one of first things Sho said when watching the vids was that she had yet to drive the car like that herself, which was her motivating factor in wanting to pursue complaining about it. She felt like she wasn't the first to really DRIVE the car.

And again, I'm going to ask... why?! Before there was resolution to this issue, I could kinda understand. But you've addressed the issue with Scion and the dealership, gotten nothing to show for it, and are apparently displeased enough that you've stated you won't be returning to that service center; so why are you keeping the dealership name such a secret? If a fella didn't know better, he'd think you don't care if this happens to a fellow 86 owner's car.

(This is rhetorical questioning, by the way; I can tell where the service center is from the video. I'd just like to know why you're so adamant about sitting on this information).

I agree that it wasn't "intense." I feel that people had this expectation that it had to outdo the infamous Camaro video in order for me to be allowed by the internet gods to post a thread remotely similar to that situation (who came up with that rule?). "Bit too much" is what we were going by, so thanks for ultimately being on my side.

Annnd.... I never said that I cared to do anything about that... I found it humorous, and I posted it. Off-topic? Sure, but this thread has been about a lot of random things that weren't originally intended.

You now...all that stuff was bad enough. But it's what we don't know that is probably really bad.

Prior to you taking ownership of a car imagine the abuse during the loading and unloading of the car on the ship. Then how it may have been driven in the staging lot, the semi truck driver while loading and unloading car from truck. Then of course the lot jockey at the dealer.

Your car was probably driven by the same guy before you picked up the car.

This crap happens all the time, For a while there was a video of a GM tech taking out a vette and ruining the clutch on it. There was a subsequent lawsuit on it.

This is why I hate bringing it to dealers, 70% of their "mechanics" with a high school education. They have like one or two ASE mechanics then say their shop is ASE certified. I am not saying all mechanics are dirtbags, some are great, but the majority of them are barely qualified to change spark plugs correctly.

I agree that 7 miles seems excessive, but I wouldn't worry unless something worse happened than what was in your 1st two videos (the 3rd says private). A minor tire chirp, a little burn-out, and occasional WOT is no big deal.

This would concern me:

yeah it was excessive, if I were checking the HPFP, I would have taken the car to redline twice maybe three times and granny shifting. not 30 times and not wearing down the tires. peeling out like that was completely unnecessary....

I work for Toyota as a Tech I never do this and if you do take your car in for service you are with in your right to go in the back meet the guy that will work on your car or request someone I would suggest the shop foremen. If you are asking these kind of things they will be good to your car cause there CSI is how they get paid. I would most diffidently take that video to the owner that guy needs to be punished . good luck

Seems excessive to me. After my dealership changed my HPFP, they didn't even drive the car (which may not necessarily be a good thing). I reviewed all my dash cam video and compared the odometer...not a single mile.

EDIT: GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.
Yeah, I read something like this owners incident, but it was a BMW M135 and two of the technicians went joy riding in the new owners car and they were thrashing the engine and the engineers then posted the video on YouTube and got brought up on speeding charges and were fired from the dealership where they worked. The new car owner filed a lawsuit against the dealership since they didn't compensate the owner for the abuse of the car. Not sure what the outcome was on that but I think he probably settled out of court.

I'll look for the link to that story:here it is...

An extended warranty is in order. The car doesn't need to be driven hard in order to activate the chirping of fuel pump issue so that excuse is indefensible.
