It's not stupidity. It happens to everyone. Better to share it and warn others.

Plus we will all sympathise and then cheer when it's fixed.

I am glad that you are dedicated to restore it to its glory completely by replacing it with a new TRD wheel.. how much do those go for in NZ?
NZ$950 plus GST (our sales tax) = NZ$1,092.50 = US$899.

Originally they were NZ$1,500 plus GST = NZ$1,725 = US$1,420 but have come down in price now, thankfully!

Then of course the tyre on top...

Yep, expensive, but if you've already got three the same no point in having an odd one, or a dented one as the case may be.

North Shore Toyota (primo NZ dealer for TRD) price = $15237.44 NZD

On top of that they pay like $20,000+ USD more than an FR-S for the base 86.. ouch.
Just thought I'd clarify the price for the TRD BBK for the 86 . The current price on the TRD web site is Yen 820000 excluding local tax . At todays exchange rate of yen 68.71 to the NZ dollar , this equates to NZ $ 11,932.00 exc taxes .

Our current RRP in NZ for the full kit is NZ $ 10,000 ( USD $ 8327.50 ) , thats over 15 % cheaper than local Japanese can source the product for .

Installed HKS OB-Link hooked up to Samsung Tab 2 7" tablet in windscreen suction mount.

Means I can now monitor oil temp when I'm at the track to see if I need an oil cooler installed later.

Also great for reviewing history of the heaps of things it measures.

@nzer is the oil temp sensor OEM or did you have it add it?

@RJ_ it is the OEM sensor. Simply plugged the HKS OB-Link into the OBD2 socket under the dash, sync to the tablet using Bluetooth and you get all the readouts once you have downloaded the carscope app. Select Toyota 2 (I think it was) for vehicle type.

Then tap and hold over any of the gauges and you can select from a big list what you want to display - scroll down and select oil temp. I swapped out voltage gauge for oil temp so the four show speed, rpm, water temp and oil temp.

Unfortunately the downside is that it only works with Android and the HKS OB-Link is about US$300 here in NZ. The ELM327 connector that does the same thing is about US$15 but no-one on here has worked out how to get oil temp. And, I was too impatient to wait until someone has!
