I wouldn't expect any major changes before the 18 month mark when current owners who buy new every two years will begin to look for a replacement. That would make 2015 the model that will have any changes beyond trim or color.

It was actually one of the deciding factors for me in buying the 2013 because if I waited until 2014 it really wouldn't be worth it to buy again in 2015. I have already prepared myself that the model will probably be different enough (turbo a standard option? Center console change to include armrest?) that I expect to want it and I'm sure that's what they're banking on it, as far as repeat sales numbers.

compare your interior to any other scion's................youll be impressed how much better the FRS is to the whole line up. Its one of my main issues I had of the car before seeing it in person. But was very impressed with te FRS.

I'm quite happy with the interior. However, if I were doing any of the design work there are a few things I would change for the upcoming model. I'm sure I could improve the tail lights. I would make the third brake light a part of the deck lid. I would easily improve the seat belt attachment to the back of the seats.

as far as the interior goes here is what i would change. red stitched shift boot, and it would be really cool to have a similar padding like what is on the door as a right knee rest

I didn't think the knee padding was a big deal at first, but my first long road trip and I was ready for it.

100% with you there.

I feel it'll be at least another year before a truly updated 2014 version comes out.

I wanted this car bad enough after reading up on it, and also driving it / seeing it in person. It wasn't worth my time to wait it out... But I can completely understand if one wants to sit tight and pull the trigger on a car which they're going to own for 5+ years... I'm spoiled, and I usually trade-up around 3 years (well, 2 years, but 3 is my goal for this car... Hehe ).

In regards to the interior, I feel the interior ROCKS in our car compared to other luxurious performance cars... I suppose I'm attracted to a combination of style, simplicity, and most importantly ---> A driver focused interior. It's not too hardcore yet it doesn't have the luxury fluff that I dislike so much, hehe.

yeah i've never had it in any other cars, but just feeling how nice it feels on the door i could imagine it feeling really nice as a knee rest.

I actually like the interior of the FR-S. I sometimes think it is mental block people have with this car being a Scion, which they relate with lower quality. After all, it the Old Navy tier of Toyota's branding; too bad there's no Banana Republic tier for the FR-S. Full disclosure, I have never owned a "luxury" car, but I've sat in my share of BMWs, Lexus's, Acura's, etc and I still like the FR-S interior. Funny thing is I also have a 4Runner and I remember reviewers' commenting on the "high-quality" plastics and leather-like materials there, but when they used it on the FR-S they call it cheap.

I don't personally think the BR-Z (non-Limited) is all that much nicer inside either. Yeah sure the leather seats are okay, but that silver dash thing on the BR-Z isn't necessarily nicer than the FR-S fake carbon-fiber look. Also I really like the white tach on the FR-S. However, the analog speedometer on the left is useless.... either adjust the scale to something more practical or give us some other info. One thing that I found useful in my 4Runner that I wonder why isn't included is the car range based on the amount gas left, but obviously isn't a big complaint since the gas gauge gives the same info.

Wait for the 2014 model. This car has only been in design for short 5 years so its not like there is any real investment in the current version. It's been available for over an entire half a year now so major changes have to be expected. I can hardly believe I got sucked in to buying this obsolete 2013 model.

I agree. I think I'm going to sell my 13 just before the 14 MY arrives. I don't want my investment to tank!

You can flood the used BRZ market and I'll flood the used FR-S market and we'll be out while we're still good.

There is a long list of first year issues that will keep the development engineers busy. I expect that most "Changes" will be remedial to get rid of the many things that don't work.
Radios that work
Gearboxes that don't grind
Tail-lights that dont leak
Body-shells that dont creak
CEL lights that are not comon
No Crickets
Camshaft sensors that don't fail
Windows that dont fail in the semi-down down position
Tires that stick to pavement
Pshyco traction control
Retarded spoke-in-wheels noise tube.
Noise control: have you driven one in sleet or down a gravel road? I know this goes against my next request...

Please leave the weight and handling combination alone; it is the one thing that is perfect on this car.
