2014 Supra
Hey guys,
Since the waiting time for 86 can be up to 12-18months, is anyone thinking instead of getting 86 GT/GTS, might as well save up for the new Supra that Toyota is working with BWM? Better start saving now if you want the new supra lol. What are some of your thoughts of the new supra compare to 86? I do like the new look of supra, looks alot of aggressive with the grill (bit like Maserati) http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor...630-2190i.html Last edited by lemoncola; 07-28-2012 at 02:53 AM. |

If it ended up looking like that illustration I would be trading in my 86 and left nut as a deposit on one, but sadly from illustration to real life there is usually a lot of disappointment.

If BMW have a part in this I don't think it will be comparable to the 86. I am guessing higher price, higher mass, different market. |

Coming from owning a Supra, and a long time Supra-holic, I really hope it doesn't look like any of the concepts posted here. They need to re-capture the essence of the Supra if they're going to do it right, and I'm pretty sure the CEO of Toyota (can't remember his name right now) will make sure of that aswell.
The Supra was Toyota's flagship car for 8-9 years. 8-9 years with very minor alterations to the specs of the car tells you that they got it right the first time round lol. I hope they manage to incorporate a straight 6 or a new V6, or even a Twin Turbo V10 could be nice :P into the new Supra, aswell as trying to keep some of the styling from the old one (4 circle lights in each tail-light). It's that kind of stuff that made the supra iconic. You could tell it was a Supra from a distance. Either way, no matter what they bring out, nothing will compare to the original MKIV Supra .

toyota should build a supra that can compete with the Nissan GTR.
i don't think toyota will ever go back to using inline 6 cylinders, the v6 has more advantages imo. i hope they can use the same technology with the 86 and come up with a boxer 6 twin turbo with the same low CoG and other principles the 86 was based on. |

I look at that car and think, "wow they did an amazing job on the FR-S design." lol It just looks like a big brother to the FR-S. The FR-S could even look better/as good with body mods (lip kit, wide body, spoiler, ect.)

I think they should just take the original body and put new-age tech in that classic look... The Supra is STILL one of the most striking/beautiful/futuristic looking cars out of Japan and it's not been made since 1998! So, I say, keep it classic with some new-age refinements! Perhaps a LED JDM spider???
