Oh lord... My grandfather had a 98 Chevy Dually that I loved. Thing went through hell... I grew up in a small town here in Texas so everyone learned to drive at a pretty young age. My friend didn't have the privilege of doing so... We were both 10-11 years old & she confuses the gas with the brake & ends up running a stop sign, running over the curb that was to the right, and smashing the back left fender into a stone building. This was in front of the sheriff's office. Thankfully, no one saw it and the fender just had a bit of fiberglass showing. (;
My huge mess up is pretty dang embarrassing. About 2 1/2 years ago I was taking the truck onto a dirt road that was close to town or whatever. This dirt road had one of those wicked bends that you can't help but drift out the truck in. It's really sharp and there was loose gravel (dirt) on it so I never pushed it too hard. Except one time I decided to listen to my idiot cousin. He told me to push the gas and turn the wheel a little sharper, it'll give it more drift. Nope. I did exactly that and as soon as I hit that bend, my truck spun it's bed out the opposite direction of the bend, forcing me to plow into the barbed wire fence. I was trying to slam on the brakes as soon as I saw what the truck was doing but it caused the brakes to lock up. There wasn't anything I can do so I just gripped the wheel and braced for it. I ran right between the barbed wire. 2 lines on the top of the truck, and one underneath. Let's just say I f'd up the top lights and put a few scratches on the dually. Not to mention the fence took a beating as well. Thankfully, I wasn't ever caught... I had never been so scared in my life. |

Got caught doing 90 in a 45 on the Cherohala Skyway on my motorcycle, got my GoPro SD Card confiscated (busted!!), but got it reduced down to a 15 over since my buddy flashed his City By-Law enforcement badge.
The 3 bikers pulled over already werent so lucky and got the full 79 in a 45, also had a court date

Driving on E for about 100 miles while on a road trip from NM to Seattle. First long trip in the car and wanted to push it and get to know how far E will go. Felt like I was in a Top Gear challenge. It took a lot of drafting and delicate throttle control to make it. Pulled into the gas station on fumes.

Try to leave a parking structure faster than I should have and went down the turns and forgot that I needed to turn in the parking slip.
I couldn't find it when I pulled up to the booth and I tried to reverse out and scratched passenger's front rim and driver's rear rim -_-

This has been a pretty entertaining thread to say the least. The only stories that really irk me are the ones that start with "well I know the road so I was going a bit fast...just having fun" etc. Cars are dangerous. People die from this shit. Slow down. My stupidest moment? Not really mine, but the passenger in the car with me. I was with my cousin leaving my Aunt's house around Christmas when I was 16 or 17. We were driving down the main road through our town that has a speed limit of 45. I was doing just that in my '01 Saturn SC2 (don't hate) when my cousin decides to rip the e-brake without telling me. I have no idea why he did this. He instantly started laughing, and I began to swerve from the surprise. Car went full 360 into the oncoming traffic lane before I could correct back out of it. Luckily no one was on the road at the time. I had never been so pissed off in my life.

On my way home from college yesterday, was taking a different route so I was going a bit slower than I could have gone. I was going around a long, 90 degree bend, when a car coming towards me decided to veer into my lane, I swiftly swerved to avoid it, in the process putting two wheels onto the wet leaves by the side of the road. The car over-steered, fishtailed twice and I just about managed to straighten it up. If there had been a car after the other idiot, I definitely would have crashed.
"But that wasn't really stupidity on your behalf", you might say. Well, the stupidity from me is the fact that my tyres really need to be changed. They're still well within legal limits, but really not safe enough that I could trust them over the winter. They might not have made any difference yesterday, but they definitely wouldn't have made the situation worse. Not gonna drive the car til the new tyres are fitted. |

I've done lots of stupid things. I try to get them on video whenever I do, because I'm an idiot.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBe59WcvEgc"]Super Sentra compilation - YouTube[/ame] Decided to top out the super sentra back when it was making about 400whp. Ran out of RPM at 7500 in 5th. The 6 speed went in, and I pushed it a bit further making over 500whp. But I sold the car to get the BRZ. Figured going slow would be good for me, and I love this car. Keeps me out of trouble. About the worst thing I've done in the BRZ: Was doing some doughnuts in the rain. Afterwards, got on the main road and gave the car a little too much throttle shifting to 2nd. The rear came around, so I corrected, then it whipped around again. I corrected again, but it taught me to respect the car a little more. Be safe out there guys, the car is fun as hell, but it can still be dangerous! |

Hmm, nothing crazy here. The back end did manage to jump out on me while it was raining one day for quite a ways. Luckily this isn't my first FR! The guys at the traffic light behind me had quite a show. Didn't expect the car to be able to kick out and stay out under 3k rpm!

LOL some pretty good stories here.
Most of my incidents (or near misses) were in my first car which was an xf falcon. Lesson one: Try not to get too into the music you are listening too. Driving down an old barely used road down south in WA singing away to the doors doing about 100kph. I started really belting out the tunes and getting right into it (I had driven the road plenty of times before so was probably a bit too relaxed). Anyway its a skinny road and I caught the edge of the gravel. Did a full 360 turn and ended up facing in the exact way I was driving in the middle of the lane. Trees on both sides of the road.....lucky as Lesson two - not a good idea to try and drift an old falcon around a residential corner at 2am on the way home from a gig. Pretty self explanatry, friends in the car, trying to do something a bit fun, took a corner (about 1km from my house) too fast. Went up the curb, accross the lawn and into the front fence. Made me look and feel like a tool. I'm a much more conservative driver now. I drove for 12months with 1 point left on my license, so I learnt to drive inconspicously. |
