By the way, is this a recent development? I thought I saw a post from FA20club a couple of weeks ago saying he can't have different base maps across the different maps - it was basically just features that he could turn on and off for the same base map. If you have Pumpgas on 1-3 and E85 on 4, that's definitely worth getting.

I hear ya - deleted.

I think it's bound to happen in any ECUTek thread though, as the real differentiation between these choices comes down to response time now.

Awesome, looks like I'm spending a few more bills today

By the way, here's the post from 18-Nov I was referring to:

The way how E85 is tuned right now we use supplementary maps that cant be changed. SO basically that map stays the same for all 4 settings so switching fuel wont work. ECUTEK current has a 55gal drum of E85 so they are working on the flex fuel function as well as a fuel based map switching function. Until then you can use your laptop. Also mixing fuel wont give you max octane and power out put i dont see why you would want to. I can drive 38 miles once my light comes on for the fuel. So im sure is you wanted to switch fuel you could get toa station in under 38 miles. You do also realize E85 is consumed quite fast so if you fill up twice a week on pump you'll be filling up x3 weekly. Your other option is to just change the fuel and switch maps later when you get to your laptop. The car drives just fine. You just cant go WOT. The ecu does a decent job of maintain economy without the map switched over using fuel trims.

Fuel gauge is definitely wonky. Thought I was running on fumes trying to get to an e85 station. Got stuck as a train was crossing 100 feet from the station. Waited 5 minutes thinking it was going to die. Looked down and I had half a tank. Topping off confirmed it.

I've been extremely curious/interested in an E85 tune for two reasons:
1- Economically more feasible. It's 3.29 a gallon right next to my house versus the 3.70 for 91.
2. The big gains everyone has been talking about. I feel like that's exactly what the 86 really needs.

My only concern is, with this being so new, does anyone have any sort of idea if this, over time, will corrode fuel lines/the engine itself? Everyone I've asked has had mixed feelings on it since there's really been no long term testing on an 86 since they're so new. If I did decide to get this tune, should I take precaution and upgrade to better fuel lines? Any thoughts/ideas? It'd be greatly appreciated...it's the only thing holding me back from the E85 tune!!

Price wise yes it is lower however you use more of it. So you only get about 80 of the miles. That said the power makes up for it I think. I read a while ago someone calculated they would be paying 400 more a year.

I also read that a complete fuel system break down was done after a bunch of tests and things looked ok. Of course this is short term.

I would search around and see what else is being said.

What sort of mileage are we talking compared to 91? On an average, under 4k RPM shifting pattern? (No stop light launching, etc.)

I don't plan on running it all the time, I will probably run pump gas to e85 4 tanks to 1 so I don't see any ill effects in the future.

Is it a simple push of a button to switch from e85 to 91?
