A quick google search let me pick this up from a physicsforms,
Yea, it looks like this is a brash way to calculate vertical CG, it would be great to see the actual calculations done and compared to other performance cars.

I have a feeling that a properly set up turbo FR-S will dominate the track. I can't wait for the day that it breaks the one minute mark on tsukuba with minor mods, haha.

do i think convertibles are better performers than coupes? no. i do think that convertibles can be lighter than coupes. thats all im saying
I'm not saying the Elise doesn't count, but the Elise construction technique is so different from that used in mass production cars (of which the FR-S will surely be one), that using it for comparison is flawed. It's the same as comparing the Elise stiffness to that of a full-on racecar; they're fundamentally different. I was also saying that the Elise chassis with a stressed roof would still be more weight efficient than one without a roof.

You can't argue with physics. A stressed roof distributes materials to the point where it is best able to increase the momentum of inertia of the chassis for the least material. Physics dictates that a stressed roof is going to offer more stiffness for less weight than simply reinforcing the floorpan like that used in convertibles.

Now being picky, it should have been 00:01:07.xxx to 00:01:08.xxx ish. I don't want FR-S to take One hour and Seven Minutes to lap Tsukuba, I think I can finish the lap with that time by walking.

we could always go with the time stamp for film

Hours : Minutes : Seconds : Frames

I'd love 2200-2300, 2700 will be on the limit for me. Let us remember this car is without turbo, so without torque, but on the other hand without lag.

turbo technology has come a long way and a properly sized turbo the boost threshold should be low enough to provide benefit even in normal driving. i think when you refer to lag you really mean boost threshold and even if you dont, lag times for a simple non intercooled turbo isnt even noticable

Civic Si is similarly powered and weighs in at 2800-2900 pounds and does fairly well for being FWD. The GTI has more torque, but it carries around 3000+ pounds as well. If it's dampened well, there shouldn't be any issues with its weight aside from the benchracers' limits.
