I was thinking the same thing. I guess that's the down side of having a wide boxer engine down low. If you manage to get have one of your front wheels pushed in, it can't move very far before something contacts the engine.

I don't think the one out of the blue car is worth pulling.

I hope this doesn't lead to high repair costs for these cars if the motor can be easily damaged in a collision. I've never had a Subaru before, is there less clearance on the sides of the FT86's engine as compared to other Subarus?

I agree... and I paid full price for mine. It's good enough for my needs, the wife loves the bluetooth functions.

Wonder why they didn't repair, that's strange.
Three numbers need to be known in determining if a car is a total loss or not. One is the estimated price to repair, two is the value of the vehicle before the accident and three is the value of the car as it sets there now (salvage). Using round numbers for an example. If a car was worth 20 before the accident and the cost to repair is 10 it might sound like it's a repair but what if someone was willing to pay 11 for the car the way it sat. It would be 1 cheaper to total the car than it would be to repair it.

Some insurance companies have contracts with salvage buyers where they will give the insurance company a percentage of the value place on the car by the insurance company. Some put their total losses up for bids and have to guestimate the value of the salvage based on their past experiences. Any time the damages are even close to making a car a total loss it's to everyone's advantage to total it out. The customer doesn't have a long wait for his car and then have to make repeated trips back to the shop to take care of petty issues. The insurance company doesn't have to live with someone beating on them because of the lousy repair job and the same goes for the body shop.

A dealer here in town bought a Hail damage FireStorm Red MT for 22K They say they are going to fix it first, and list for 25K. Blew my mind how much damage it actually has. Roof, Hood, Trunk, Fenders and Quarter Panels.

Wow I see 14 wrecked FR-S's, with three flood damaged from the east coast. Likewise 4 BRZ's with 2 flood damaged.

What a waste!
