I'm glad I wasn't totally killed for this statement on here lol I feel like in recent years I've noticed more and more subaru problems and when I first heard about this car and heard that it wasn't just toyota but toyota paired with subaru I was instantly dissappointed. The more I've read, the better I feel about the pairing and know that toyota did it in the best interest of the car, but because Subaru has always rubbed me the wrong way, I do have that concern

I have a Toyota Aristo and the thing breaks all the time :s... I am for ever looking for a part to fix in it...

But I know of many that don't even have to worry about their car and runs fine and perfect... I got a lemon( stupid 2nd hand car imported direct from Japan)

I still believe Toyota are reliable ... never looked in to Subaru as never been keen on them.

Heh, completely possible. Welcome.

Subaru cars that are N/A usually fare pretty good for reliability from what I've seen. We have a couple subie guys on this forum. But make no mistake this is mostly a Toyota forum.

If I had the money to buy the first year, fresh off the delivery truck I would do it. Depending completely on how the final product turns out. But I wouldn't worry about first year defects as much as dealing with a stealership .

My 100k mile WRX has been rather trouble free for the past 8 1/2 years. Pretty sure I can get another 100k miles from it with only maintenance and maybe a 16G turbo replacement.

Planning on getting the FRS/BRZ soon after it comes out, and keeping the WRX as the "fast car" (tuned to 290hp currently). But the Toyota will be the daily driver.

Not expecting any 1st year problems that wont be covered by a warranty. (it's possible, but I'm just not expecting it.)

Having dealt with scion dealerships in the past, I am happy that the car is going to be a scion. You just tell them what you want, they spend as much time as you like to learn about the model, test drive, etc. They make sure that you know they do not get paid commission, which is fantastic because it just makes the experience so fun and laid back.

I nearly bought a tc before because of how cool the salesman was, but it was still a tc

The recent reliability problems have been with the 2.5L turbo engine that was designed specifically for the US. They have had tons of ringland failures that require the entire engine to be replaced. This is isolated to that specific engine though and the 2.0L engines that they have in the STI in Japan are rock solid. There's also the fact that Yamaha is helping out with this engine, and every engine Yamaha touches is awesome.

The 1LR-GUE in the LF-A, and the 2ZZ-GTE in the 00+ Celica GT-S off the top of my head.

All of the S engines were designed by Toyota and tuned by Yamaha. The 3S-GE, 3S-GTE, 5S-FE, etc. The Beams motor was pretty impressive for what it was.

Yamaha also tuned the 3S-GE Beams motor. Dual VVTI goodness!

Im also worried about the first year issues and sorta scared of them introducing a turbo model down the line.

Other than that I cant wait to get my hands on a white or black one!
