I searched audi forums for the thread title "i just slammed some gay wad in a toyobaru" so i could hear his side of the story. couldn't find anything...
This does remind me of a time I was driving my VW gti and exiting a parking lot. This lot dead ends at the exit to a taco bell drive through and as this old, beat up hyundai accent pulls out in front of me they stop, the passenger yells "jettas are for ***s!" and they drive off. I was less upset at the insult than I was that he could be so bad at insulting me, almost like his insult was a waste of time because it was so thoughtless and dumb. At the stop light i pulled up next to them and made the grey poupon motion for them to roll their window down. I then said in a very calm and matter of fact tone, "1. this is a golf and although it shares a lot of the same parts as a jetta, i feel u should get your cars right before you start calling me a *** for owning one. 2. it really doesn't matter if this is a golf, jetta, or a fuckin yugo. this car is way nicer than yours, seeing as how you don't have a car, which is why you are sitting the passenger seat of your friend's hyundai. why don't you let your balls drop before you start talking like a man." I waited maybe a second, staring directly at him as he tried to laugh it off but couldnt bring a come back to his lips. the light turned green and I pulled away gracefully. |

Um, as an Audi owner myself, I doubt many people would be insulted by your VW comment/question. I mean, seriously? If you said that to someone driving a Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, or Porsche, they would probably laugh at you. Most Audi owners would probably laugh too, unless maybe they were driving an A1 or something. |

I don't buy that "Subaru" stuff. It is clear that neither company could have built the FR-S/GT86/BRZ itself. They both contributed to its unique attributes.
People give in too easily to a black and white, simplistic view of things where something is either fish or fowl. In this case, the car is a hybrid of ideas from both companies. Last edited by FRiSson; 12-01-2012 at 05:28 PM. |

I did have a kid in a beat honda element asking me..."oh so that's new right" in a way that I thought he was trying to insult (trying to cut into my lane at the time) but I had a chance to say, yeah it's a new design, and he said he'd seen them, was impressed that it looked as good as the pictures. |

Also, I don't know why Subaru would be a dig at a Toyota/Scion driver. Subaru has been putting out exciting cars and 'prepped' versions of their economy cars since they were created. In the last decade Toyota has been putting out the most bland cars possible throughout their entire range. http://www.autoindustryinsider.com/?p=3622

Heck I'd take it as a compliment if someone called my Scion a Subaru. That's like a half-step up isn't it?

Personally Id just smile and wave. People like that look for a reaction... if you give them none or the wrong one they get frustrated. I enjoy that.
