That's the FFB20 as compared to the EJ20. Toyota didn't have anything to do with that

I would rather a 1.6turbo... How do I know its not all lies.

In sure they will make turbo kits for the first car so I'm still getting it.

And as toda said an after market world will ve built for the car just like it got built for ae86.

They won't bring out a dif car a year on maybe 2nd gen but not a year after.

Here's something I found on another forum.

Quote:
havent been on here in awhile, no more internet at home but its so slow at work i had to read up, so yesterday im helpin my girl's brother move in to his new place and a toyota warranty rep is there uncle so hes there aswell, we start bs'n about work and how i liked the new rs 7.0 tc so much n he mentioned the FRS, i said man i been on a ton of forums bout that i know more than u think, being a smart ass, i said i wanted 1 till i kept reading theres not going to be a turbo version, he said what u mean no turbo its a 4 cylinder rear wheel drive lightweight toyota subaru joint car, how stupid do u think they are, trd turbo is already started because he had to go over the warranty information about all problems possible with the components of turbo charged systems. so i said good whens it coming out? he said FRS is coming in june of 2012 and trd versions probly not till summer of 2013 and then the first release series of it around the same time, the release series may be the start of the turbo version in fact.

so there right from a very high up toyota warranty claims worker, confirmed trd turbo option after 1st year of production and a release time for the FRS.

he did not comment on hp or torque thats not his deal hes just what can go wrong, why, how, and what to warranty and the length of warranty. everything will be a normal toyota warranty for the scion n/a and boosted 3/36 everything, 5/60 powertrain, 8/80 emissions, but there still meeting about turbo to be 3/36 or 5/60

BAM he made me happy lol

Just another guy saying what he heard from one guy that heard from another guy that heard from some other guy on a forum.

I don't trust it. It's not credible and its just a rumor/misinformation.

Don't tell me you believe this guy Spaceywilly! Lol

^ I really don't trust the turbo info but I have seen some people claim that well Car and Driver and another car magazine has stated that there will be a turbo version coming, etc. And they see it as a more reputable source than some other places. *shrugs*

I find it unlikely to have turbo and it'll most likely be a badge engineering project.

I don't know, the story just has too many random ridiculous details to be made up. I'm not saying it's 100% true, it's just another piece of evidence to put in the turbo file. Anyways, even if there is a turbo I'd still get the NA. It sounds like the NA engine is going to be good enough, so I can just save my money

I wouldn't call it "Evidence" just something that's left on the table without it having to do with anything. :P

Also, as much as I want to purchase this car--it really looks like the U.S economy is turning to sh**.

All the more reason to buy what you want now, while you can still afford it!

I still don't believe they will drop a turbo engine in after all of the investment they have placed into the N/A engine. There is nothing about this story that warrants another thought in my mind. The new Subaru turbo engine isn't due out until 2013/2014. That means almost 2 years maybe 3, before a new turbo engine is available. Anything else would just be a bolton kit.

It might not be impossible, but I'm not holding my breath.

Subaru to upgrade FB engine, 1.6L turbo

Subaru plans two turbos, one to be 1.6L turbo from the FB.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/subaru-t...-new-range-of-
turbo-four-cylinders.html

"The company is expanding its FB engine family with an upgraded version of the 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder from the upcoming Impreza, as well as a new 1.6 liter variant, Subaru execs told Car and Driver. Both motors will employ direct fuel injection and turbocharging in tandem, a la Ford’s Ecoboost, to help Subaru achieve its goal of a 30 percent increase in fuel economy across its entire model range by 2015."
