I used to bring my shocks and forks to Stig Pettersson of PPS when he was in Southern California area. He was from the motherland and he used to pronouce it "ol-lee-ens".

Lol, love how this thread has turned into what the pronunciation of Ohlins is, haha! I've been saying it for years as "Oh-Leans" if you want an easier way to say it... I've heard other variations, but that's what the guys at the Ohlins booth at SEMA told me, so I'll run with it

I found out Ohlins Japan has been offering them awhile ! The JDM version looks a little bit different and they are build to order ! It has the JDM price tag as well

http://ohlins.czj.jp/auto/Item/BTO-ZN6_DFV_HAL.html

Retail price $4354 after conversion....... I hope it will be a lot cheaper from US distributors

The JDM versions are indeed different. Ohlins USA offerings are a lot more Swedish in their valving (a good thing)

The only thing that sucks is they won't be offering TTX valving...which for anyone who has ever messed around with coilover valves knows is leaps and bounds easier to work with. You could buy valve/shim stacks that were literally drop in. I had them on my bikes and loved being able to change them out and do my own maintenance. I asked and they said that due to the front strut setup they didn't see a viable way of doing it...also no remote reservoirs kinda sucks too...but beyond that these will be the bees knees.

Yeah, TTX is still more of a premium racing design. Not many suitable for road cars. I would so love to see an affordable street/aftermarket version of TTX come out though - like $500 per shock.

the road and tracks are great suspension no doubt, but i wouldnt go as far as calling them "high end competition suspension" It would be safer to say that the Ohlins TTX are a "high end competition suspension" but i dont think these are available for the BRZ/FRS yet, someone correct me if im wrong.

In their off the shelf form they are indeed a "road & track suspension" as their name implies and not a hardcore competition suspnesion. However, internally they are pretty darn advanced shocks. With custom springs and valving they can do what you ask of them, although they are only single rebound damping adjustable.

And no the TTX aren't available.

I think you might be the only guy on this forum who might think that, but regardless, I'm looking at the whole picture when you have products out there like Megan and D2 coilovers, then you have your Bilstein, and KW, great suspension no less, but Ohlins, I think compared to those, easily #1 in my book. Of course we're talking about a specific genre, in no way am I comparing them to full race Motons here, that's not the comparison I'm making, that's a whole different game.

Out of all the available offerings the Ohlins setup is probably the closest to a race setup we will have until people start fabbing custom front suspensions that full race versions can bolt to. I'm guessing Penske's offering will also be high end car porn parts and this post http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17593 has a blurb from Penske about basing their offerings off of some of their best shocks...exciting.
