OP, as far as your planning goes, I really like it. Don't be deterred to trying new things on new models. The porting is a good idea. With the E85 and your stage II listed, I think you are going to be at or past 200whp. This is dyno dependent of course, I think on your average dynojet, you will meet that power goal. |

I have seen some exciting na Honda with cam and internal engine support mods like light weight pistons, cam, porting and valve train to rev the engine to 10K. A stripped na 86 properly modded to rev to 10k will be exciting too. But it will be expensive and not cost effective as FI.
Air intake filter and 3 inch exhaust on a stock 86 make lots of horse power noises, not actual horse power. |

Honda NA power is cheap. You can do a K20 cam change in 20-30m depending on how good you are.
Doing cams on our car will take hours and if you pay for it will likely cost 1k in labor (A reputable shop on here said 3K total wouldn't be out of the question for cams). This cost stopped me in my tracks when thinking about going NA.

Yeah when you do cams you minus well drop everything in at once and do all the work you plan to do on the motor at once.
Didnt Crawford tear part the stock head as well a while back? Im not a expert but does anyone know if there was alot of improvement to be made there? |

In theory it should, but I don't think its been tested yet on the FA20. I know when I had my S2k, I gained almost 10whp from switching from a 2.5 to a 3", both single exit exhausts. But the db's and drone were unbearable for me...

I had planned on doing I/H/E, cams and a tune. After looking at the numbers I figured it would be a perfect amount of HP for the car. But considering the hp gains from a SC kit far exceeds the gain of internals, and the cost would be only a bit more, going SC at this point seems like the better $/hp choice.

For all motor? might give you like 1-3hp up top at most (might be no gain or 1-3 hp loss... you'll lose tq tho for sure. I figure 2.5 or 2.75 would be the sweet spot. Probably 2.75 if I plan on turbocharging later.

You can run far more timing with E85 compared to gasoline. That's how the power is made; it's been said a few different ways in this thread.

thats what i was saying, but with less power density you need to inject more fuel to compensate for the losses. it takes timing better as well generating more power.
