Nissan needs to make a rival to the twins. Not the Genesis. That car kinda looks fat and heavy. Im afraid it is.

Otherwise, Nissan bring it on! ... but first, fire the people who designed that front end!

I highly doubt this is going to happen, but I'll be happy if it does! As others have said, I would love the return of the cheap RWD wars!

Let the wars begin! Bring back the mid 90s competition!

Mazda you're next!

Honda, screw you and your civic, bring back the Teggy and S2k!

P.S. that render is ugly imo

Bring to the plate lightweight, RWD, cheap with estimated power outputs.
mazda never left.

I think it's just the problematic Maxima styling, it looks about the same size as the FRS to me.

I don't understand why designers are trying to get so fancy these days with chrome shit and giant weird shape grilles. Keep it simple, just a normal rectangular opening at the bottom, and nothing more. What's the sudden craze with the ginormous badges and enormous gaping holes?

It's so stupid that they would even try to incorporate their "corporate grille". The car won't be a high volume seller, like the 86/FRS/BRZ, so why bother trying to make it look exactly like every other model? Stupid.

I would not mind if it was a little bit larger (for more rear seats space). Just afraid they add way too much weight.

+1 on the design thoughts.

For $27k you had to get a convertible, 2 seater, with a small trunk
Vs. the now-new FRS/BRZ for around the same and a Hard roof, proper trunk (not gonna mention a sorta 4 seater) but 2 seats and storage. Plus 200hp and a very happy aftermarket

Also, I miss their Rx-7 niche

But after most real JDM cheap sports cars 'left' the MX5 has been there, but just there

you can get a miata for like 23k. also, typically two seater convertibles are more expensive than the 4 seater coupes and the aftermarket for the frs is abolutely dismal compared to that of the miata. imo, mazda is the only company that hasnt forgot about the cheap light rwd car. in over 20 years the miata has only gained a couple hundred pounds.

You're right about Mazda keeping themselves light and in the market with the Miata, but I was comparing apples to apples

6speed vs 6speed versions of the car (Both new and 2013 models)

that which is this much

Plus for 300lbs more, you get a hard roof, trunk, more interior space, more power and torque.

What I want to conclude at is: Mazda has kept this 'great' formula for years. But what they NEED to do is innovate and make it better, now that Toyobaru is hurting them and Nissan wants a piece of the cake, like that fat kid in elementary

They should let Infiniti design it for them BUT making it ala S15

245hp, 220(?)lb-ft (maybe have NA v6 options and FI I-4 options)
6 - speed manual
Wheelbase 99.4 in (2,525 mm)
Length 175 in (4,445 mm)
Width 66.7 in (1,694 mm)
Height 50.6 in (1,285 mm)
Curb weight 2650–2800 lb (1200–1270 kg)

Slap an S16 badge and call it a day

I will go for that no matter what (and I think they will make a killing in the market if they do that?
