On the other hand AutoXing is not covered by insurance policies as you are "racing". Autoxing might not involve the high speeds of conventional tracks but the movements you require of your car are definitely more violent than what you would encounter at your typical road course.

It might also come down to whether you like open-air tracking or prefer the added protection of a coupe. Get. It. In. Writing. Seriously...have a specific rider added to your policy outlining that the coverage extends to track use. Any incident that occurs on a track will get major scrutiny from adjusters and result in having a he-said, she-said argument about compensation.

^That. For those who selected "Other" to represent weekend pleasure car, I consider that borderline garage queen. I guess some options are a gray area. Interesting how many people on this forum are making this their dual purpose car.

Dave, I undertand where your coming from. But I can't see a brand new car that cost 20k+ being a garage queen unless you live in colder climate area or you bought the ft86 used or in cash. But I know some of you guys have multiple vehicles. I would hate to pay monthly payments for something I barely use but if I can buy it in cash it would'nt matter to me.

No car should be a garage queen in my opinion, I just kinda have one since I haven't had a chance to drive it.. and it's not really a garage queen - it's been driven for about 23,000 miles in the last 1.5 years...

I have an uncle with an 87 GN with ~600miles on it. An old neighbor back in NJ with a Z32TT with under 500miles on it. And a buddy from high school who went right into the Marines and bought a 2000 Cobra R that's been sitting undercover in his father's plexiglass warehouse since he drove it home from the dealership 12 years ago. GN: ![]() ![]() From what my military friend told me, he knows of a lot of guys who took their enlistment bonuses, bought a new car, and garage it until they're finished their X year's. Results in some pretty sweet older cars with no miles on em. |

5 digits heh. I had a truck that almost hit 00000 after many years of driving so I tried to swap it for a 6 digit.
I can believe that about new military guys buying new cars with their enlistment bonus, having been on base and seen some of the cars. Kind of strange to see the new guys' cars compared to what the career guys are driving. Anyone, I wasn't completely kidding about a MRV. Although it would be my DD and also serve as my errand runner since I only intend to own one car at a time. |
