Just finished writing up the CEL issue story:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22359

While it is unrelated to the turbo kit, install, and tuning, I know some people here were interested in what we experienced towards it.

@AVOturboworld,

Not sure if it's been asked... but does the turbo quiet the exhaust much?

From the videos it doesn't seem to be any quieter than before the kit, but I think it will be hard to tell considering it is removing one Cat. (Meaning maybe it does quiet it down, but since the Cat is removed that removal manes more sound than what the turbo is quieting it down to... Does this make sense? Not even I know if I understand it.. LOL)

I was just hoping it would help nullify some of the obnoxious 15 second cold start exhaust tone. Sounds crappy on anything except the stock exhaust.

I'm positive no turbo kit ill cure that. Turbo helps tone down when the compressor is compressing air/compressed air is going to the exhaust none of which happens at idle

Actually, it does quiet it down, quite a bit to be honest. Which is why we are recommending our non-resonated exhaust for the turbo people, and our resonated exhaust for the n/a people. I haven't notice a bad exhaust tone at start - but then, I've had the turbo on the car for a while now.

And it will change the exhaust note at all times, even idle - the exhaust gases have to run past the exhaust blades of the turbo. And with small turbo's like that, even idle will have them spinning, just not very fast.

Does it make start up no longer obnoxious?

Um, I'll try and take a video some time. I never noted it as being obnoxious, but then, after spending 8 years as an automotive journalist, I became thick-skinned to a lot of minor quirks from a lot of cars.

So your saying the turbine wheel magically moves out of the exhaust flow when at idle?

Um... no, I'm saying the turbine does not spin fast enough at idle to be compressing any significant amount of air

Its the blockage that obstructs airflow (from the turbine) that in turn muffles sound, so again speed does not matter for sound in a turbo application.

not trying to be a ****, just found it amusing.

Haha, yea most of that stems from back in the day on forums like dragva, and nabr, I find being a smartass far to easy to avoid sometimes.

But on topic, I <3 the AVO kit, best turbine choice and placement i've seen thus far. (not that there are alot of options for street car builds yet in fairness)
