And your statement does nothing but reinforce the stereotype. As said already, cars are meant to be driven--by their owners. A car is not meant to be at the garage (even if it is necessary to keep it running), and not meant to be your personal joyride while you guy attempt to diagnose/fix a problem. Of course, you could have just typed that out a bit too quickly without thinking. So before we flame you further, I think you need to clarify or confirm that statement. |

Maybe the tech figured the customer drove his (sports)car hard and wanted to duplicate the driving conditions before he deemed it "repaired" I would be more mad at myself for buying an inferior product than the tech if ANYTHING was damaged after a spirited drive. I get it, its the respect issue of it not being YOUR car, but its a 2 way street |

Also, if you report problems that occur over legal speed limits, there is nothing they can do, I've tried something similar with a near hydrolocked Civic once. I told them it no longer went 130mph(funny you mentioned that speed). They said there is no way for them to test that. |

130+ was just a number i used for reference. I'm not sticking up for the tech. I'm sure there are variables we arent even aware of given the situation. Maybe the tech underestimated the amount of power this car puts out, maybe he cant drive stick well, ect, ect,. I'm just telling you (the customer) what you dont want to hear. Yes, these things do happen. |

Second, for this issue, a HPFP noise that's a TSB there is no need to worry about how the owner drivers the car, it's a known issue that occurs anytime the car is warmed up. Third, the tech's job is NOT to assume or decide that the customer attempts burnouts in their car with a cold engine, nor is it their job to assume or decide that a customer redlines their car between redlights. Fourth, hard driving on a cold engine causes wear in ALL engines, it doesn't matter which brand. It's not a good thing to do and while there is no serious damage it can cause long term oil consumption and other issues to be worse than they would be on a engine that was warmed up first. As a tech, you should already know all of this.

again, I'm NOT defending the tech. I also agree about the lack of professionalism the tech displayed during the repair. I'm just trying to shed some light on instances in which things like this happen. Most warrenty repair claims require a mileage in/ mileage out on the vehicle being repaired. Meaning you NEED to put miles on the car in order to verify the repair. Why the tech decided to drive the car the way he did is questionable though. edit: my comment regarding the 130+ was just an example of a possible situation that a tech could encounter. |

Sorry to hear that this has happened, so where was the dashcam located for the tech not to notice it? Im thinking of possibly getting one for these reasons.

Since there aren't any updates I'm guessing he has taken legal action and possibly been advised to stop posting in the mean time.

Largely, I think we are on the same page here--we know that this happens on occasion, it sucks, and there are techs out there that shouldn't be certified based on this. But just because it happens doesn't mean we can't get angry when it gets documented. |
