I suggest you get your paint Opti Guarded right now, because the better condition it is the cheaper is it going to be. Less polishing, after you get your aero parts you'll have to wait 30 days for the paint to cure ( I believe they don't come painted) then after that you can get that Opti Guarded as well.

The reason I suggest OptiGuard on paint first is because that's more "valuable" , its your car's original paint, protect it. The aero parts is after market paint, stuff from body kits usually gets scuffed anyways Opti Guarding them isn't as important, the spoiler maybe though.

A member on the forum asked about clearbra and you advised them to skip it since a repaint of the bumper and hood will be the same price. I haven't gotten a clearbra for my car yet based on that advice from you.

But now you are saying to protect it since original paint is more valuable than a repaint.

So which advice should I follow? The advice you give is contradicting and some of it is exaggerated. I'm not sure what to think or to believe you or not.

I will bring my car somewhere else, will find another person to detail it for me. There's other selection available.

The reason I advised against clear bras in because even if you do get them, you may still get rock chips, no matter how careful you are. Rock chips don't really annoy me, I've learned to live with them and even ignore them but for the people they do annoy you should wait for lump sum of them and get a repaint. Usually it's just the bumper.

Now OptiGuard is really a Permanent Wax with some scratch resistance properties, nothing like a clear bra. Opti Guard is on the whole vehicle, I would be a fool to advise anyone to repaint the whole car (just because it looks bad, I'd put myself out of business). I would love for everyone to keep there original paint jobs but sometimes it just doesn't happen.

What does happen is accidents, vandalism, paint over-spray, and other paint calamities like bird bombs, tree sap etc...

The fact of the matter is probability, its more probably that your going to get rock chips then end up having severe paint etching all over your car. OptiGuard is a type of insurance on your for paint, as well as making your vehicle look amazing.

It's hard for me to explain but basically what I'm trying to say is keep your original paint job for as long as you can, repaint when necessary. Don't bother protecting(OptiGuard; them though, even though there going to be beat up they'll still look good ) things that are going to get beat up anyways (you'll know better then me what parts they are) Lips, skirts, extensions and bumper. Usually stuff that eats a lot of gravel.

I'm not going to lie, I'm sad to see your business go but really there only two other options (Two other authorized installers).

Bryan @ Concours Touch... EXCELLENT WORK! Very nice guy, super busy, mobile. He's probably second in OptiCoating/Guarding cars in the city. Most importantly he's my mentor as are a lot of detailers but if I ever need info on something I ask him.

One example would be myself, now this is a true story. It can be confirmed by the guy who hit me, the body shop and the painter.

Two weeks ago, my mom bought a '12 Civic (I know, I know it looks ugly and the features aren't even that great)

After she picked it up and brought it home, I wanted to take it for a test drive so I picked up my buddy and slowly proceed up the road. I was stopped on a red light when someone rear ended me (Car had 99KM and to us it was 2 hours old). Now if I had a clear bra, the clear bra would have been wasted and I would have to get a repaint anyways so the effort in preserving areas that are more probable to be injured are a waste in my eyes.

I know it's sort of irrelevant because no one clear bras a rear bumper and since the other driver was at fault they had to pay for the damage and theoretically my clear bra if I had one there but I hope you understand where I'm coming from.


I one more thing I've just thought of, is if you have a Ferrari, Lambo or any other exotic please do not follow my advice a bumper repaint for those types of vehicle will costs 10x any clear bra which makes my points irrelevant. My advice on this forum should only be followed by FRS/BR-Z owners or comparable vehicles.

+1 for Mr. Fermani, he the OG-G (OptiGuard Gangster). I believe his thread intially sparked EVERYONE's interest in this miracle product.
