Fabricate a PVC tube with the TPMS sensor on it and a valve stem. Inflate to required pressure. Throw these in the trunk with the spare. Change tires all you want. TPMS reads the proper pressure.
I did this on my Tundra, but the word is these sensors require wheel rotation to continue broadcasting.

Any news on this? I called Ateq, but the guy I spoke to said I need a VT15 and a Quickset Tool. That didn't sound right to me.

The VT15 is a trigger tool. As far as I know you shouldn't need it for our car. I think a triggering tool should only be needed for a car that can self learn the sensors. But I could be wrong.

TPMS Help

I struggled servicing tpms in my shop for the past few years, I was at SEMA a few weeks back and found this company called TPMS Manager. Its a tpms information database...has troubleshooting, year/make/model lookup, relearns, replacement sensors, service kits, and a bunch of other cool stuff. I signed up for the free trial and I have to say its the best place to look for all the TPMS information you need. They have different versions available too; Powered by TIA with all their training content included, and another Powered by Bartec (TPMS HUB) for any tire shops that use bartec scan tools. Software is rally going to help make tpms a profit center for me.

i got the ateq quickset but am a little confused with programing it. i installed all the software, plugged it in to my computer and typed in my new tpms codes into the "summer" column. I clicked the button to save and it it looked like it went through. I then brought it to my car this morning as i went to work then before i went in, turned the car off and then put the car "on" as the instructions state, plugged it in, pressed the winter button and the light turned solid green. I unplugged it, and plugged it in to my work computer and it didn't show any codes in either column. I just got home and plugged it in to my home computer and it shows the summer column that i typed in, clicked the button to download the codes from the car and it said it was successful but it doesnt show anything. Is the software just not going to show what it's programmed with? I'm just hesitant to plug it in and press the summer button and lose the stock tpms codes or have it set everything to nothing and not have any codes in the ecu.

Based on my experience, the wheels don't have to rotate for the sensors to work. I had the OEM sensors put in my new summer wheels, and the light was off even with the wheels/tires in my back seat.

The light behaved differently with the sensors in a bag on my passenger seat as well.

I took the sensors out of the stock wheels when I had snow tires mounted on them, so it's not conflicts between sensors or anything.

You can put your TPMS in your spare tire instead of making this, just buy straps and strap them down to be able to use your spare tire. You can also buy one of those small dolly tires from harbor frieght and put your TPMS in them.
