Another question which is not directly related to the AVO turbo kit: Is there also an aftermarket kit to strengthen the auto transmission?
I would like to know the answer to #1 as well.

#2, there is no kit (at least known to this community) about upgrading the Auto trans.

1. No, it's journal bearing.

2. No need, the AUTO trannies are holding up to power far beyond what this kit will make.

I'd still want an additional external trans fluid cooler, if I had a turbo kit and A/T.

A trans cooler will be on my list of supporting mods.

P&L turbo car. It's auto and turbo. Like I said...you want an aftermarket trans cooler regardless. It's there for the safety and longevity of the internal clutch packs. Heat will kill them fast at ANY power level, even stock.

Very much enjoyed my Long Tru-Cool when I had my WRX.

I'm not saying I was always like this - I think I was replacing the clutch on my old 280Z every 6 months when I had it several many lots of years ago.

So far, the car has held up well on the stock tires at the drift events, but I'm not sure I could say the same if I was running the much stickier 245's. With the amount of torque the car can make at even Stage 1, it's going to get down to whether you want the tires or the clutch to be the weak point, and if you upgrade the tires with the kit on, the clutch may become the weak point.
Well, looks like a clutch upgrade is in the cards then. I don't want to roll the dice and have the stock clutch fail on me.

Yes, definitely a transcooler for an A/T. I thought that was assumed, though

I think Tiz wanted to know where did you get its journal bearing.

Thanks.

1.
Any recommendations for a transcooler?

2. @2forme Do you know for sure that it's just a journal bearing turbo? (I know about the oral statement in the video.)

Post 1299 of this thread has a video where he says the turbo is a TD05 18G. That's a journal bearing. I think it's a 360 degree bearing instead of 270.

Yeah I had seen the video and researched it (the TD05 18G), but still hope for official (hint hint AVO) confirmation

That's about as big as I'd want to go on a 2L; though this engine is different than the regular Subaru engines you see a Mitsu 18G turbo on.
